Why love sugar?
Sugar is tasty, but is it good for you? Well, yes, but only in moderataion. The average American consumes about a quarter pound of sugar a day! That's 60 teaspoons! That's 180 pounds a year! If you aren't convinced that you eat that much, think about it, that's 4 12-ounce cans of soda. For most that's normal, to consume that much sugar. But also think of all the sugar treats that you eat in a day. That's a lot of sweetness!
Some call sugar a drug, not only because of its addictivness, but because of the effects of eating sugar such as; mental illnesses, depression, diabetes, tooth decay, gallstones, wrinkles, and obesity. But these are only a few!
The Power of Something Sweet
So if you don't want to be the victim of sugar, take an apple the next time you reach for s Twinkie bar for your after-school snack.
