Warrior Reopening...We Will Be Ready!
Seems like just the other day we were handing diplomas out to our Schroeder graduates from the Class of 2020! (Well,...that's because it was! ;)) The dog days of summer are here. As you know, we are preparing for 2 school openings...Hybrid and Remote.
For each school, students will begin on Thursday, September 10th. As you are all aware, this year will begin much differently than we have ever in the past.
This is a time for us to continue to work together for all of us to have a successful school year. This newsletter contains useful information as you start to get your high school student ready to come back to Schroeder or remotely. We continue to be very busy this summer planning for the new year, hiring new staff and cleaning up and disinfecting the school to be ready on opening day!
This school year we will focus our energies on the mantra of “Together We Win”. No matter the age or the educational background, when we work together, we win together. We believe as a school community we can anchor our energy in striving for excellence by working together. This includes other students, teachers, secretaries, sentries, custodians, cafe workers, and most importantly, yourself.
We will be here, ready and waiting!
Stay healthy,

When Will Student Schedules be Ready?
We are currently in the process of meeting 100% of the requests for Hybrid Groupings and/or Remote Learning Options. The online backpack will be updated as we do so please check for the most up to date information. If we cannot honor a request, we will contact each family to discuss options to help our students/families.
Due to this process and changing to hybrid or remote schedules, they will be ready on or about Monday, August 31st. Students will be able to view through the parent portal on IC. Another newsletter will be sent a few days before with more information pertaining to the schedule.
Thank you for your patience.

Locker Night
Sorry, but to limit overcrowding, we are not going to be holding our Annual Locker Night. If you would like to have time to do this please contact me at paul_benz@webstercsd.org and we will arrange a time to access student lockers.
Students attending EMCC
Can students drive to EMCC?
Ordinarily, no. However, this year we are reserving a # of spaces for students to be able to park on our campus. If you are interested in driving to EMCC, please contact your Assistant Principal. We will try to meet as many requests as we are able based on the capacity given to us by EMCC.
What is happening with our off campus programs?
-Lollypop Farm (Small Animal Care) – There was a meeting on 8/11/20 to finalize the plan. Updates will be available once we solidify the plans after the meeting.
-St. Ann’s (New Vision Medical) – Agreed for our students to return. Students will need to be COVID tested weekly. St. Ann’s will provide the test.
-Rochester General (New Vision Medical) – There was a meeting on 8/11/20 where we learn if they will allow us to return.
-Perinton Ambulance (Emergency Services)– Agreed for our students to return.
-East Rochester Elementary (Childcare Professions/New Vision Education Professions) – Agreed for our students to return.
Where can parents get more information?
The Monroe One BOCES Reopening Team, along with program level administration will be hosting two parent forums next week. One forum is for parents of students enrolled in Multi-Occupational/FOCUS (MOF) programs and the other forum is for parents of students enrolled in EMCC programs.
Dates and times are listed below along with the link to the virtual meeting.
Multi-Occupational/FOCUS Parent Forum Information:
Date: Monday, August 17, 2020
Time: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
Link: https://zoom.us/j/92763038610?from=msft
EMCC Parent Forum Link:
Date: Thursday, August 20, 2020
Time: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
Link: https://zoom.us/j/93214037971?from=msft
The following will be in place for both forums:
· Forums are configured so that participants’ microphones will be silenced and only able to be turned on by the facilitator.
· We will only use the chat feature for questions/comments and the feed will only be viewable by the facilitator.
· We are asking for parents to email questions ahead of time.
Questions can be emailed to mike_ehret@boces.monroe.edu.
(Parents who submit questions will receive a response to let them know the email was received. They will not receive a direct response to their question.)
· The facilitator will monitor the chat section. If time permits, questions entered via the chat function will be answered.
· We will do our best to make sure as many questions as possible are answered during the forum. Any questions we are not able to answer will be added to a FAQ section of the Monroe One BOCES re-opening plan on our website and the link will be sent out to parents.
What day does EMCC and MOF open for students?
Our calendar has recently been updated and approved by the Monroe One Board of Education.
The first day for students is now September 14, 2020.
What is the schedule going to look like for our CTE programs?
EMCC
EMCC will only be able to accommodate about ½ of our regular # of students at a given time due to space and staffing limitations. As a result, BOCES is working closely with Webster to coordinate schedules. At this time the majority of our districts will be sending students 2 days a week for in person instruction. Most districts are sending students by cohort groupings on Monday and Thursdays or Tuesday and Fridays. Wednesday will be a virtual day for all students. There is no change to class start and end times.
MOF
Multi-Occupational/FOCUS programs have smaller class sized by design. As a result, we are more easily able to accommodate all students being in attendance.
We are currently planning on students being able to attend MOF programs 4 days week and possibly 5. More information will be forthcoming on this topic as we approach the opening of school. There is no change to class start and end times.
Physical Education Classes
PE is a great opportunity to engage in healthy activities and learn about a variety of movement experiences. Physical Ed. classes will look a little different this year and here are a few items that will be of interest to you:
- Locker rooms will be closed until further notice. Students with PE on a given day are asked to come to school in clothing that they can move in and PLEASE wear sneakers. (Bathrooms will be available if students need to change on an individual basis)
- We will take advantage of our outdoor spaces and opportunities. Please be aware that this may include going outside in less-than-ideal weather. Please Dress accordingly.
- Physical distancing is essential and will be expected during activities. We will instruct students to sanitize and/or wash their hands prior to and after use of any equipment.
- Any equipment used will be sanitized in between uses.
- This is an opportunity to increase knowledge of fitness concepts, individualized programs & activities and wellness concepts for social, emotional and affective learning. Please come with an open mind and ready to move!
From Our Athletic Director Mr. Strege
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) informed us that the start of our fall sports season is now delayed until September 21. For those who are interested in participating in athletics and/or extracurricular activities this fall, please continue to follow the CDC guidelines. Consistently implementing these strategies has allowed us to even have the conversation about restarting the fall sports season.
Please continue to:
● Wear a 😷
● Practice physical distancing
● Wash your hands.
Every effort is being made to provide these experiences for our student athletes during the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to provide updates as we work toward restarting our sports programs. In the meantime, we hope you stay safe, stay healthy, and stay connected.
