The CityLab Connect
Week of November 7th, 2022
A Message from Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Alexander Price
Greetings,
First, I want to thank you for your trust in choosing CityLab for your child’s education. I have been an educator for thirty years beginning my career teaching middle/high school Vocational Agriculture and Sciences. For the past twenty years, I have been in administration and since CityLab’s opening in 2017, I have been an assistant principal at this campus, and it has been an honor and a privilege to be of service to this community helping to create life-long learners instilled with the values of our six Cs (Creativity, Collaboration, Commitment, Compassion, Community, and Citizenship). With that said, there are few items that I wish to be sure to let the community know that are upcoming and ongoing
November 10, 2022: ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be administered to juniors who wish to take the assessment. The ASVAB is not just for students who are interested in joining the military. It is also very helpful in assessing possible future career choices. If you wish for your student to opt out, please contact me at alprice@dallasisd.org
December 5th – 16th: STAAR End-of-Course retesting window will open with English I (December 6th) and English II (December 8th) testing the first week.
Attendance:
Please make sure your student is attending school every day. Students are required to be in attendance no less than 90% of the school year to receive credit for courses (with excused absences) and not be considered truant. Because CityLab is on a block schedule, if the student is absent more than five (5) times in any course, the student is in violation of attendance and will need to make up the hours through Attendance for Credit (AFC). If your student is in violation, you will receive a notification from the district and a phone call from the campus. CityLab offers AFC every Tuesday/Thursday, from 4:30 PM to 6:30PM. AFC is also offered on Saturdays (November 5th, 12th; December 3rd, 10th,17th) 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
