January Character Education Theme
The theme for January is Self-control which means choosing to do what you SHOULD do, not what you WANT to do. As the New Year begins, talk with your family about how you could have more self-control. This could include eating healthier, exercising more or working harder in school. No matter the problem, keep your cool. Self-control is a valuable tool!
Please see the attached forms for information regarding Credit by Exam.
Our Watch Dog program consists of Dads or Father Figures of Great Students who volunteer one day at their child’s school. They will perform a variety of tasks including assisting with the car line in the morning, monitoring the cafeteria and helping in their child’s classroom. Please contact email@example.com if you are interested in participating and to schedule your date. We look forward to your participation and hope to see many dads at Farney Elementary!
Happy New Year of reading! I hope your break was filled with rest, relaxation and reading!! We are getting back on a schedule and checking out books each week. This semester we will focus on our Library Home page Digital resources! Hopefully, your kids will be reading lots on a computer or device using the Widgets on the library home page! Watch for a bookmark of logins and passwords for these great resources!
Name That Book is organized and there is LOTS of excitement in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades! Our contests start on Thursday, January 21 with grade levels competing during their Large Group time: 5th – 12:55 – 1:50; 3rd - 1:50 – 2:45; and 4th – 2:45 – 3:40. Readers ARE leaders at Farney Elementary School! Parents are welcome to watch the contest by signing in at the front desk and coming to the PE room.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit during lunch. Any other visitors (grandparents, siblings, friends, etc.), must be accompanied by the parent or guardian or have a note giving them permission to eat with the child. In accordance to CFISD policy, school age children are not permitted to visit the campus at any time. Due to food and nutrition guidelines, you may bring lunch for your child only. For your convenience, there are several tables reserved for you to enjoy lunch with your child. Teachers will call the “Farney Five” at the end of lunch to signal when it is time for your child to say a quick goodbye and rejoin his/her class.
Want To Know How to Help?
We have SO many opportunities for you to volunteer at Farney! We encourage you to get involved in any way you can. If you cannot come in to the school during the day, we have brown bag projects that can be sent home. A strong home/school partnership means success for our children. For more information go to www.farneypto.com.
