Reflections from the week of 4-4-16

Hello AMCHS Family,

I hope you had a pleasant weekend and had an opportunity to do something fun.

Last Monday, three educators from AMCHS attended a training led by a national Educational Consultant, Larry Bell on closing the achievement gap, and it was phenomenal. We learned practices on the power of teaching through high expectations, and we were provided instructional strategies on how to close the achievement gap. One of Larry Bell’s principles is for teachers to systematically, on a daily basis, implement some basic fundamentals with intentionality and fidelity so they can reach and teach every student. This was our “aha moment” and a moment for us to think about what those basic fundamentals look like at AMCHS. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for us to systemically develop and integrate those basic strategies to help all students to shine!

I appreciate you and what you bring daily to help impact the lives of our students. Let’s continue to push each other, hold each other accountable, take risks, and to show our students how to finish strong. Though the end of the school year is insight, we must put forth our best effort and Finish Strong!

Together we will make a difference. You matter at AMCHS!
