GREENE SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK!
Kudos to our Beacons News Crew!
Thank you so much to Ms. Belanger and our Greene Beacons for your continued hard work to provide us with important information and fun facts during our morning announcements. With Ms. Belanger's guidance, students have demonstrated great ownership and pride in their individual roles and responsibilities.
Congratulations, Mrs. Asher!
Mrs. Asher received Sycamore's Awesome Aviator and was recognized by the district this week!
A heartfelt nomination from a parent speaks volumes: Ms. Asher went above and beyond, offering support and valuable insights as our child struggled to transition to intermediate school. Her patience, kindness, and open communication made a world of difference." We are grateful for her dedication to students and families alike!

Winter Map Testing
On Tuesday, January 23rd and Wednesday, January 24th, students will take the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in the areas of Reading and Math. MAP Growth results provide information regarding each student’s learning, performance, achievement, and growth allowing teachers to plan instruction according to their individual and overall learning needs. MAP reports contain information including what students already know, what they are ready to learn, and possible areas of instructional focus. Comparative data is also available to understand where students are performing in relation to their peers.
A few suggestions to help your student:
1. Get a good night of sleep prior to the test date.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast (at home and/or purchases the school breakfast).
3. Arrives at school on time.
4. Gently Encourage your student to do their best. While we all want our students to do their best, we also want the students to not feel excess stress or anxiety.
If you would like additional information or have questions, please consult the MAP Parent Toolkit. We appreciate your help in making the administration of the MAP assessment a positive and successful experience for your Greene School student.

Wet-Lather-Scrub-Rinse-Dry
It is that time of year when it seems everyone has a cold or stomach bug. People commonly catch colds when they rub their nose or their eyes after their hands have been contaminated with the cold virus. People can also spread the stomach bug by not washing their hands before eating and after using the restroom. Handwashing - the single best way to remove germs and avoid illness. The CDC refers to handwashing as a “do it yourself vaccine” in protection against disease.
Cell Phone Reminders
Cell phones are not permitted to be used or carried by students during instructional hours unless instructed to do so for classroom usage by a certified staff member. Consequences for violating this policy may include, but are not limited to:
1st Offense Warning issued to the student, phone returned to locker, parent notification.
2nd Offense Cell phone remains in office, student pick up at end of day, parent notification.
3rd Offense Parent/Guardian responsible for picking up the phone.
4th and Subsequent Repeated violations are considered insubordination and will result in further consequences. Parent/Guardian responsible for picking up the phone.
