Hello Darby Families!
Exciting news! The Darby School-Based Health Center has new hours! The clinic will now be open for medical appointments from 8 AM-5 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesdays, the provider will take appointments from 8 AM-Noon. Western Arkansas Guidance Center hours remain the same, Monday-Friday 8 AM-4 PM. To schedule an appointment, call 479-784-8131
We only have five more days of learning until the end of the first semester. Students who need to turn in missing work or retake any assessments for an improved grade can do so at this time. Please check your student's grades on Schoology and encourage them to finish strong!
Winter break will begin December 20th and classes will not resume again until Tuesday, January 4th.
This upcoming week is club and activity week during SWAG time. Students who are passing all of their classes have been given several fun sessions to choose to participate in. Students will also get to watch a holiday movie on Friday in the auditorium. Yummy treats will be served! It's going to be a great week at Darby Middle School!

Help your teen overcome reading reluctance
Too many students never learn to see reading as something that they can enjoy. To boost your teen's interest in reading, offer him short stories, poems or other short works. If he doesn't like one, he can quickly move on to another. Remind him not to stop if he hits a word he doesn't know. Just have him jot it down to look up later and keep reading.
