6th Grade Advanced Math
This week the students spent their time making corrections on their unit 3 Real World Experience project. The students were also given some PARCC practice problems to work on, and time to complete assignments on Accelerated Math 2.0.
Due to PARCC testing next week the students will not have math everyday. Math will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for 45 minutes. I will introduce the new geometry unit. Throughout the unit the students will be learning new concepts while completing their Real World Experience project. This project involves designing and building a birdhouse! I think the students will have lots of fun!
3rd/4th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)
In our new unit we are exploring the oceans! This week the students continued to explore ocean zones by researching a specific zone. They will share their information on Monday.
Due to PARCC testing the next two weeks, the students will not have DEB. When we meet again I plan on continuing our ocean unit. The students will study coral reefs, and read about the Great Barrier Reef. I am also planning on having them explore ocean conservation.
5th/6th Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB)
We started our week back in DEB 5/6 discussing the brain and how it works. The students took some online brain tests to see what type of brain they have. We also played some brain memory games. The students continued to read the story of Phineas Gage as well.
Due to PARCC testing the next two weeks, the students will not have DEB. The students will be responsible for finishing the story of Phineas Gage on their own. When they return to class, they will be answering some comprehension questions and completing a constructive response.
