Week of Sept. 9th
A Note From Ms. Bazz / Una Nota de la Sra. Bazz
Welcome Back to the 2019-2020 school year! We have so many exciting things planned for the year ahead. The district has implemented a new Math curriculum called Bridges. Please ask your children about the program. The engagement level in classrooms has never been better! The students seem to really be enjoying it and the teachers love the program as well. The district is also focusing on our Digital Citizenship & Cyber Safety. You should have received information on this and we hope you will help us to make our students more conscious of their responsibilities when online.
Please do your very best to let your students know how important it is to be in school on time. The bell rings at 8:25 so all students should be on the playground by then. The gates open at 8:15. All students have the option of attending study hall at 8:00 or being a part of Mrs. August's Run Club, which begins at 7:40. Please take advantage of these opportunities and make sure your students arrive to school on time.
We are noticing some congestion at the Scoville entryway during arrival & dismissal. Please do not stand at that door and wait for your students to exit (unless you are a pre-k parent). Please go on to the playground and wait for your student to dismiss. The same goes for arrival. Students should be on the blacktop and walking into the building with their teacher leading the way.
Thank you for your cooperation~
Ms. Bazz

Sra. Bazz

NWEA MAP TESTING
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Your child will be taking the NWEA MAP Growth Assessment three times during this school year. Students in grades K-1 will take a Math and Reading assessment. Students in grades 2-8 will take a Math, Reading, and Language assessment.
MAP Growth is a computer-adaptive test. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This type of assessment challenges top performers without overwhelming students whose skills are below grade level.
MAP Growth uses a RIT scale to accurately measure what students know, regardless of their grade level. It also measures growth over time, allowing you to track your child’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. Once your child completes a MAP Growth test, they receive a RIT score. The RIT scale precisely measures student performance, regardless of whether they are performing on, above, or below grade level.
Teachers can use the score to inform instruction, personalize learning, and monitor the growth of individual students. Principals and administrators can use the scores to see the performance and progress of a grade level, school, or the entire district. Parents can use this score to track their child’s progress over time and to help them meet their goals.
If you have any questions regarding this assessment, please contact your child’s teacher. If I can be of further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Sinde
Director of Learning Management & Assessment

Estimados padres/tutores:
Sinceramente,
Lindsey Sinde
