A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
Parent / Teacher conferences are behind us, but they really brought to the surface a few powerful thoughts:
Number 1 - Bear Tavern is a special place. Sitting in the 'parent' chair during conferences, I felt incredibly fortunate. Each day I love seeing what goes on in your classrooms and throughout the school, but hearing our teachers talk passionately, intelligently and in a caring manner about my kids was incredible. The intangible details that I don't see when I check lesson plans, do observations or pop around were being pointed out, shared and celebrated. Having had different experiences, I can tell you that what goes on here, does not go on everywhere, and for that I am truly thankful.
Number 2 - In a discussion with a particular teacher after conferences, the teacher said something to the effect of, 'Even our worst situation is pretty good compared to other places; we are very lucky' With our resources, our families, our colleagues and most of all, our students, we have so much to be grateful for and to truly celebrate.
Now, to be clear, there are and will be bumps in the road, failures, setbacks and frustrations and everything is not perfect; but remember, that we have everything we need to be great and we are where we are because of the hard work of so many people. Please join me in reflecting upon the amazing things throughout our school, but also committing to take our work to the next level by continuing to expand to take risks and to think big for our kids.
Please enjoy some down time with your family and your loved ones. Each of you is an integral piece of what makes our school special and incredible. I am thankful for all of your hard work and your commitment and I am even more thankful for the potential and the promise that I see what I look at what we are doing and what we will become.
Enjoy the long weekend and HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Sincerely,
Chris
