Defer Dragon's Burning News
October 16, 2020
From the Principal
Dear Defer Families,
It was a great first week back in the building with Y5 - 2nd grade students! The students did a fantastic job at school this week! I appreciate your help at home as you practice wearing masks, complete the Covid19 screening at home each morning, and follow safe drop off and pick up routines. Please remember all family members must wear a mask during drop off and pick up.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, rheauml@gpschools.org or 313-432-4004.
We look forward to seeing our third and fourth graders in the building next week!
Thank you,
Dr. Rheaume

Attendance Reminder
Parents and Students MUST go over the following checklist each morning before coming to school:
The form will not be turned into school, you can keep it at home for your records.
For more information here is a quick Health Department Public Service Announcement
Students will make sure they have the following things on the checklist:
Lunch Supervisors Needed!
We are looking for more Lunch Supervisors to oversee students during lunch! This can be a paid position or an essential lunch volunteer. We need an adult in every classroom plus supervision out on the playground.
We are in great need for volunteers on Fridays. Please consider helping out.
Essential Lunch Volunteers need to complete a Volunteer Release Inquiry.
Most importantly, we need support in the classrooms while students eat lunch for 25 minutes! Volunteers only need to be here on their child’s cohort day.
Kindergarten 11:00 am
First Grade 11:25 am
Second Grade 11:00 am
Third Grade 12:00 pm
Fourth Grade 12:25 pm
Essential Volunteers are requested to check in the office at lunch and complete the Covid19 Screening.
Please contact Dr. Rheaume or Mrs. Krotche (432-4003) if you are able to support us in keeping our students safe. Please consider helping out in your child’s classroom!

Defer PTO-Help Wanted!
Are you looking for ways to get involved with Defer for the 2020-2021 school year?
Even though school looks different this year, there are still many ways to get involved! The Defer PTO is looking for volunteers to chair various committees this year. Volunteers are also needed to help plan and organize details for each committee. This is a great way to meet other parents within the Defer community. Many of these opportunities allow for working parents to be involved.
Please review the various opportunities to be involved this year by clicking on the link below.
