Memorial Update
Introducing The Great Kindness Challenge!
We began gearing up for the Kids for Peace Great Kindness Challenge this afternoon. Students and staff worked together to design door displays that promote acts of kindness. These displays all over the building will anchor our focus all week next week on kindness and compassion for others.
We are living through some really challenging times, and it weighs heavy on me at times that this is the only environment that our children know. It can be scary, uncertain, and unsettling as we are constantly bombarded with news everywhere of the pandemic. We are committed every day at Memorial to creating a school culture that promotes community, kindness, empathy, and social-emotional wellness. I am optimistic that when we focus our hearts on kindness that we have the power to overcome, uplift, and unite.
My hope is that the events of this week will inspire and propel our school community to focus on acts of kindness every day. The Great Kindness Challenge epitomizes everything that I believe we should be fostering in our youth- kindness, compassion, empathy, and most of all- positivity. I encourage you and your family to join in outside of the school day as well. Send me pictures and if you are on Twitter, tag your family's participation by using the hashtag #memuptonkindnesschallenge . This will bookmark all that we are doing next week!
In the space below, I am sharing resources for you for the week as well as what our school's daily schedule will look like. Have fun with it, and be kind!
Warmly,
Wendy
