Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson
Dear Crossroads Community,
It has been fantastic to be back with our students and staff here at Crossroads for our 20th year! The school year is off and running smoothly. Last week we introduced our House System and the buzz and excitement in the building is strong. Please talk to your children about it to assist us with keeping the excitement moving throughout the rest of the school year...each and every day.
We know you are also excited about being able to get back into the building. Currently we are allowing parents to come into school to eat lunch with their children. However, you are only able to eat with just your child during their twenty minute lunch time. You are not allowed to go to recess with them. We have a separate area for parents to eat with their children. It is located near the gym and cafeteria. You must sign-in at our office, then you wait in the foyer for your child to walk by from the Kindergarten through third grade classes. Once you see your child, they will walk with you to the eating area. If your child is in fourth through sixth grade, then you will wait near the parent eating area for them to walk by. Parents are not allowed to eat breakfast in school with their children.
I’d like to remind you of our dismissal expectations. Parents are not allowed to walk up to the school to pick up their child during dismissal. You can only get into the driveway line to wait for us to call your child out. We will walk your child to your car. Please do not get out of your car, it only slows things down. We prefer for everyone to enter the school parking lot from the gas station/shopping mall entrance. Those who do enter from Timber Meadows Parkway, it is blocking the buses from entering the parking lot. Please be mindful of our need to get the buses into the parking lot. I do know dismissal is very busy and causes some of you to have to wait, but understand we are dismissing about 700 students so your patience is very much appreciated.
We are still looking for a few staff members to help monitor our lunch and recess. If you are interested in helping out you can use this link to access Applitrack and apply for the noon duty position at Crossroads!
Thank you again for a wonderful start to our 20th year! Have a great September and let’s hope the fall temperatures get here soon!

Updated Proof of Residency Requirements
Starting with the 2021-2022 school year, our buildings will ask every current family to provide updated proof of residency to the school that serves the oldest child in the family.
The documents will be collected August 1 through October 31. A list of the approved documents is provided below.
Please send your proof of residency to the email address associated with the school your oldest child attends: Residency Proof Email Addresses by Building
If you have already provided residency proof, thank you!New enrollments will be required to provide full proof of residency documentation.
Homeowners:
Provide current utility bill (water, sewer, electric, gas) within the last 30 days with matching mailing address and service address.
Leases:
Provide current lease with all occupant names and utility bill (water, sewer, electric, gas) within the last 30 days. Utility bill mailing address and service address must match. If a lease transitions to month-to-month then provide the updated addendum. If it is a mobile home trailer and pad, then the lease for both should match. Leases should include all pages of the lease.
Residing with Someone Else:
Owner/Lessee should provide a lease, ALTA Settlement Statement, or Real Estate Tax Statement. Owner/Lessee should also provide a utility bill, valid photo ID, and notarized letter. Parent/Guardian residing with someone else should provide a photo ID and Affidavit of Residency Form. Parent/Guardian residing with someone else should also provide official mail from a federal/state agency, current bank statement/loan statement, or utility bill.
Guardianship:
All guardianship situations and documentation will need to be updated this year and annually.
Please contact your school's secretary or registrar for further information.
Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We sent home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/24. If you need additional tags, please check in the main office. ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no. Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.
The expectation is all parents will have the lime green car tags ready to go by August 30. If you have any questions or thoughts, please let us know.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:

PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
It’s hard to believe that it’s September. School is in full swing and we’ve got a busy month planned.
Our first Dining Night Out is September 8th at Chipotle at Highway K and Laura Hill. This is a great one because they will give us 33% of all Crossroads purchases that night between 4pm-8pm! Just show the flyer when ordering or tell them you’re there for Crossroads Elementary. You can place your order online as well and we’ll still get credit. See the flyer for the code to use. We will only get a percentage of orders placed directly through Chipotle, no third party delivery orders. We know that Crossroads can really show up for these Dining Nights, so let’s make this first one amazing!
We also have our first social event of the year this month, Party on the Playground. Crossroads Corgis and families are welcome to come out and enjoy a celebration of the start of the school year! We will have yard games, music, snow cones and of course, the Crossroads school playground! Join us for the fun on Friday, September 17 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Seating is limited so guests may wish to bring portable chairs or blankets. We hope to see you there!
We’re Going Crazy
We are very excited to be launching a new fundraiser this year, Raise Craze. Raise Craze is a fundraiser where students collect donations and then show their appreciation by serving others and completing random Acts of Kindness. In other words, students spend time serving, not selling! The way it works is students ask friends and family members to support our school by making tax deductible donations, and then they pay it forward by doing good deeds. We will be running the fundraiser from September 29th-October 13th. During this time, we will have a Family Service Week and a School Service Week in order to complete acts of service as a community. And we will keep it fun for the kids with classroom competitions, a kindness tree and individual and classroom prizes.
We chose Raise Craze because it reinforces kindness in the classroom and improves the culture of our school. We loved that everyone can participate by completing Acts of Kindness. No one is left out! And because Raise Craze is about more than just raising money, we’ve set an Acts of Kindness goal in addition to a financial goal. No Act of Kindness is too small and every one counts so please encourage your children to log Acts of Kindness on their personal websites every day. If we meet our goals, we’ll have a special surprise at our Closing Celebration. Hint: it involves laughing at the principals! We will be sharing a lot more information as we get closer.
We hope to see you at our first general meeting September 14 at 7pm. Don’t forget to join the PTA before the meeting so that you are able to vote. It’s incredibly easy, just click the link below and fill out the membership form. It just takes a couple of minutes and at the end you will be directed to our PayPal Giving Fund to pay the membership fee ($6) online.

You Shop, The School Gets Paid!
Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it’s easy for Crossroads to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon. Once you’ve set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Crossroads Elementary PTA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you’ve set this up, it’s easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.
