Language Workshop
During the month of December, we have began reading books related to problem solving. We have been working together to figure out the problems in each of the books, and then thinking about how the characters solve the different problems. We have learned that sometimes it takes many people working together to figure out a solution. We will be ending our unit next week by reading a favorite story: The Day the Crayons Quit.
Reader's Workshop
Our Kindergarten Readers have been busy practicing new reading strategies to use when coming across unknown words! They have been using their Eagle Eyes (looking at the pictures), Fish Lips (getting their lips ready), and using the help of their friend Stretchy the Snake (stretching out sounds in words).
Math Workshop
The last two weeks, the Kindergarten mathematicians have been practicing both addition and subtraction. They have been listening to word problems, and then figuring out if they should be adding or subtracting.
They have also been focusing on being fluent with their combinations to five. Ask your son or daughter a way to make 5!
