A word from Mr Broom

It's been a wonderful week in school for our children.

On Tuesday, we had a very special visitor in school. Santa arrived to deliver presents to all classes! He was a little later than expected due to the very strong winds!

On Wednesday, the choir visited Hilltop Nursing Home to sing a selection of wonderful Christmas Carols. They had a whale of a time. The children in Year 1 and 2 also visited the pantomime and it was lovely to hear reports of the children's fantastic behaviour, with members of the public making many positive comments.

Year 3 and 4 held their termly open classrooms on Thursday, as well as performing Hosanna Rock to a packed audience. I'd like to thank Mr Wilkinson for working in our Year 3 class this week in Mrs Butterfield's absence.

Finally, we had an amazing celebration assembly where Year 5 got to show off their wonderful Sea Wigs.

Enjoy the shopping this weekend if you're out and about. Only 12 days to go!

Mad Science a Hit!

We can confirm that we’ve had a great response to the Mad Science After School Programme and it will be going ahead as scheduled on Mondays after school for 1 hour.

There are just a few KS2 places remaining so if you want to book a place for your child please book online at:

Parking Reminder

A quick reminder to ask everyone to park considerately of others when dropping off and picking up. I realise it's difficult and very busy. Please use the Co-op Car Park if possible.

Lunchtime on Monday 16th December

On Monday 16th December, it's the school Christmas Lunch. As this is the case, there will be no jacket potato or sandwich option available on this day.

If your child is in KS1, please let us know if they will be bringing a packed lunch.

If your child is in KS2 and would like a Christmas lunch, please pay £2.30 on ParentPay by Friday 13th December.

Junior Leadership Team introduce Playground Boogie

At our last JLT meeting, the children came to ask if they could have music to dance to during playtimes. So we ran a trial today and it went down a storm.

Instances of Poor Parent Behaviour

You may or may not be aware but I have had to take steps to safeguard our children from a small minority of parents who seem to think it's fine to swear and shout at children on the school site. It's not!

Please remain vigilant against any form of inappropriate behaviour and report it to the class teacher or myself immediately.

It is worth pointing out that we have had next to no issues with children's behaviour in school. Children fall out and make up as part of their social learning. It was interesting to note that the children involved in the issues at the beginning of the week, shared a dining table and were getting along just fine by lunchtime of the same day. This is because we invest a great deal of time in supporting our children to develop positive relationships and conflict management.

No Dogs on Site

A reminder that school is a 'No Dogs Zone'. This includes dogs being tied to gates or fences as well as in pushchairs! Thank you.

Attendance Above Expectations

With an average of 96.5%, our attendance this week is above the national average. Well done everyone, even with the bugs that are going about too!

Well done to those children with great attendance and congratulations to Year 2, who are our attendance champions for the second week running with 98.8%

Registering Interest for Nursery Places

If you will be considering nursery provision for your younger children in the future please let us know. We review our nursery provision regularly and information on predicted numbers is essential to help with planning. Those on the register are also welcome to come along to the monthly stay and play sessions to meet other families with young children and our local childminders.

School Policy on Sickness/Diarrhoea

If you child suffers from sickness and / or diarrhoea, we try to minimise infection by implementing a 48 hour absence period from school. This begins from the last instance of any symptoms.

Thank you.

Free School Meal Applications

If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (even if they are currently in receipt of the Universal Free School Meal provided to children in Reception / Year 1 and Year 2) please ask at the office for a form. The school receives additional funding for each successful application, and you would also be eligible for a voucher towards the cost of any uniform provided through school.
