Construction Updates
- The closure of the northbound lane of Tully Rd. at Memorial Drive has been postponed until Monday, November 28. This closure will last from 14-21 calendar days.
- Then, the southbound side will be closed in the same manner for a duration of 14-21 calendar days.
- The Country Place intersection has been re-opened already and serves as a viable detour for this closure.
- The Memorial Greens intersection has been widened by the contractor, and the following events will occur in the upcoming days. The concrete barrier separating the temporary roadway from the permanent section in the center of Memorial Drive will be removed. The contractor will create a “transition” leading from Memorial Greens to the center permanent roadway, and the temporary roadway in the area will be removed soon.
- The northbound side of the Memorial Greens intersection will be closed by Monday, November 21. Once the northbound side is complete, then the southbound side will be demoed and rebuilt.
The contractor shared that they are targeting a completion date of the areas that affect Meadow Wood, Spring Forest, and the TTC in late February, 2017.
I will continue to keep you posted.
Kids Helping Kids
Hi Neighbors,
We are in our 6th year of a program we call "Kids helping Kids". The idea began when we were looking for a way that our boys could give back to children in need during the holiday season. A friend suggested Yellowstone Academy (YA) and we went from there. For the first three years a group of friends collected and donated gift bags to the 2nd and 3rd grade classes of YA - about 70 children.
For the past two years, we were asked to provide this wonderful holiday blessing to the rest of the primary grades; preK 3, preK 4, K, 1, 2 and 3rd grades. A total of 221 children! Clearly that was more than a group of families could do and we enlisted the help of MWE families, NF and AF communities as well. With everyones assistance, we met our goal and it was such an amazing experience to go to the school and distribute the gift bags to the children.
This year, we have added 4th grade, for a total of 250 children. The Salvation Army Harbor Lights Choir will again be joining us at Yellowstone Academy on December 12. They will perform to the whole school (preK 3 through 8th grades) and their performance will make the gift giving an even better holiday experience for these kids. We could not do this project without the help of our community. We are attaching the sign up genius link here if anyone would like to make a donation or help volunteer. If you would just like to donate money that we can use towards purchasing items for the gift bags, you can drop it off at my home - 14403 Twisted Oak Lane. Please make checks payable to Pamela Ferworn. Last year we had over 15 different items in the gift bags for the children (from toothpaste and toothbrushes to an extra t-shirt and socks) and they were appreciative of everything!
