Furniture Arrangement
It can make or break your event!
Circles beat Rectangles
Rectangular cafeteria tables with fixed seating posed challenges when it came to break out group flexibility.
Not Quite...
Computer lab wasn't ideal for open conversations and sharing.
Giant Space? Stay put!
Wish we had stayed in this cafe-gym-a-torium. Instead, we opted for breakout sessions in classrooms. First & last time. Participants didn't feel comfortable leaving sessions, timing was also a challenge.
Color Coding
We match the schedule to the Dollar Store table cloths every time. Participants always rave about this. We also tweet out the Google Doc schedule so it can be changed/ checked often
Whole Group Meeting
We always plan the space so that we can come together as a whole group in between sessions. This has led to a greater number of participants staying until the end. We think it helps everyone refocus.
Norms
We set the norms early and always. Participants say this helps them feel comfortable switching sessions.
Media Center Win
Table cloths and easy to access wall mounted monitors made this space ideal. Participants easily changed roles, shared screens and discussed big ideas.
