Students Took the Stage
Roles were reversed for a few days!
Jenna Fox Article Review Presentations
Remember your child bringing home a permission slip regarding a research project? Well, not only did they research and fill in an article review template to summarize what they learned, but they also presented their findings to their classmates and teachers! We enjoyed listening to the students while also viewing their choice in media to support their presentations. Details on the project can be found here.
"Flowers for Algernon"
We have started reading "Flowers for Algernon" in our classroom textbooks and a copy can also be found on our website. Please discuss with your child how they feel about the story so far and if they would go through with the brain surgery to make them smart if they were Charlie.
Rorschach Test
In order to gain a better understanding of all the tests that Charlie goes through in "Flowers for Algernon", we had the students try these similar experiences. It was interesting to see what they saws within the Rorschach test inkblots!
Winning Wings
A change has come upon eighth grade! Our Winning Wings system has changed to better support our students. The students had a team meeting Thursday at recess to discuss the new system and the PowerPoint that was shown can be found on the homepage of our website by clicking the pink button labeled "Winning Wings".
Character Education
On our half day we displayed several inspirational quotes for our students to read and reflect upon. After reviewing them, each student was to select a quote that appealed to them. Then, they wrote a friendly letter to a person of their choice offering them advice based on the inspirational quote.
