The Positivity Project for FAMILIES @ SCMS (Especially Virtual)
What is P2 for Families?
P2 for Families is an easy and effective way for families to discuss the importance of character strengths and positive relationships. It is differentiated for all grades. Each character strength follows a 1-1-3 model: 1 quote, 1 video, and 3 questions to drive conversations around character at home. Here is the 2020-21 P2 Calendar & All Character Cards
Please choose your child’s grade level below to be directed to all of the character strengths.
FAMILY Resources (5th grade) -- FAMILY RESOURCES (6th-8th grades)
SCMS Principal, Mr. Domagalski
A key part of that role is for our students to become familiar with the teacher's Google Classroom platform. It has become obvious to us that, moving forward, the use of these platforms will increase in both face to face and virtual instruction. While developing this capacity, students must be willing to communicate directly with their teachers first, then also, Ms. Rutledge, Mr. Robbins, and/or Mr. Domagalski if there is additional information needed depending on the questions or inquiry.
We want all of our students to learn and be successful. We are working hard to connect with our Virtual Students/ Families, especially those that have chosen this option without internet or a device at home. Our teachers are making multiple attempts per week to contact those students by email, phone and Google Meets. If those contacts have not been received or if there is confusion on the process to gain access to classroom material, please ask your student to contact the teacher(s) directly. It is very important to establish these email and phone communications. We want our Virtual Students to be connected with their teachers and SCMS as well as expect virtual students to be working on school work during the "normal" school day.
Lastly, please understand that when we say, "We are all in this together," we truly mean it. We are all living through a time that none of us have lived through. We are all learning how to be students, parents, teacher, principals, custodians, etc... in a new way that none of us are accustomed to. Things will not be perfect. We will all learn from our mistakes. However, we will all get through this together!
Mr. Michael M. Domagalski
St. Clair Middle School, Principal
MEMSPA President-Elect 2020-21
SCMS ATHLETICS
- Only 2 spectators will be allowed at all sporting events. SCMS students athletes will have to give the 2 names to the coaches prior to the event.
- Spectators not on the approved list will not be allowed to enter game events.
VIRTUAL STUDENTS - 6th-8th grade
- Please CLICK HERE for the document/plan for virtual students to be on Virtual Google Meets for all SCMS classes. Students are expected/required to attend these Google Meets at their designated times as attendance will be taken.
- UPDATE: Teachers are now expected to be posting/assigning lessons and work BEFORE 7:30am for that day. As an example, on RED Days (1st/2nd/3rd periods), students can expect lessons and activities before 7:30am on those days for them to complete on those days. Students should not be waiting until the afternoon for lessons and/or work for that day.
- Any questions, CLICK HERE or please contact your teacher within your schedule or how this works.
VIRTUAL STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Virtual Student Attendance will be taken each day on Friday's by 6th-8th grade teachers starting Friday, September 25. Because is it required that teachers/students have at least 2, two-way communications each week, here is how teachers are going to record attendance. See below:
- If a teachers/student had 2, 2-way communications with each other throughout the week (Google Meet, email exchange, phone conversation, completed assignment turned in, etc...) teachers will mark the student present each day of the week (2 or 3 times, Red/Blue Days).
- If a teachers/student had only one communication throughout the week, students will get 1 absence. Teaches will select the day that makes the most sense where they didn't have expected/required interaction with the student.
- If a teacher/student did not have any communication throughout the week, the student will get 2 absences only. Teachers will mark the student present for the potential 3rd day depending if it's a Red or Blue day.
WHEN SHOULD STUDENTS STAY HOME?
- Subjective fever or severe headache, new or uncontrolled cough causing difficulty breathing, severe sore throat, uncommon abdominal aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees.
Please understand that parents should be reviewing the health of their children EACH MORNING BEFORE they come to school. If a child is not coming to school for whatever reason, please call them into the SCMS Attendance line at 810-676-1826.
