Principal's Message:
Dear Weibel Families,
Thank you all for participating in Parent Teacher Conferences. The teachers did an excellent job of preparing for the virtual conferences. For many parents, the virtual conference seemed easier to attend than the traditional conference. There were many positive feedback's from the virtual conferencing which could be a good option for some families even in a regular school year.
I want to thank our entire community for the continued support as we continue with distance learning. As I virtually visit classrooms, I continue to be amazed at our staff and students how quickly they adapted to this new type of learning. I also want to thank our PTO group for organizing so many fun activities during this time. It’s not easy to change all their traditional activities onto Zoom, but they’re making it happen! Please look out for PTO weekly emails for more information on future events.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. Have a safe, relaxing, and warm two week vacation with your family. I wish everyone good health, peace and happiness. Please stay safe and Happy New Years!
Thank you,
Ms. Lee

Parents - A Message Regarding GATE
Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) provides support for gifted and talented (GATE) students through differentiated instruction. We believe that differentiated instruction not only serves the needs of our exceptional students, but also enhances the entire educational program for all students.
In February of 2020, funding for the CogAT testing was cut as part of the budget savings. While the CogAT testing has been the primary means of qualifying students for GATE identification we are now in the process of identifying an alternative way of identifying students. There will not be a test for GATE eligibility given this year. We are currently revising the GATE identification process and handbook FUSD will have an update by Spring 2021.
During the 2020/21 school year we will continue to identify 5th and 6th grade students who were not identified in an earlier grade. These students may be considered for GATE identification through the professional judgement process. Teachers (staff only) and/or parents may nominate a student.
A completed nomination form must be submitted by the teacher or parent to the school Principal by December 11, 2020. Principals will set up meetings with the teacher, student, and parent to discuss the student’s eligibility for GATE identification. In June 2021, parents, teachers, and students who applied for professional judgement will be informed of their child’s GATE eligibility.
Absences/Tardies
If your child is going to be absent or late for school (this means your child is not logging in for class that day or is logging in late) please call the Weibel attendance line and leave a message as to why your child will be out/tardy. Please include the teacher’s name, your name & phone number. Please speak clearly.

Greetings Parents and Guardians!
We are entering the final weeks of 2020. This is the time of holidays and celebration for many. As you may have already noticed, the holiday season and extended time out of school can be extremely stressful. This year will echo that norm, but may be more intense for some.
It is important that we identify when we or our children are feeling stressed. Notice changes in thinking, is it staying positive or veering toward the negative? Notice changes in energy level, is the energy steady, revving up, or completely depleted? Notice changes in body sensations, any sore, tense, or uncomfortable feelings? Any upset stomach or headaches? Notice the expectations, are they too much for right now? Do they fit with the current living restrictions? Take a few moments throughout your day to just notice!
Find times to rest, relax and recuperate! Find the positive in situations that seem challenging or upsetting. Eat healthy, get enough sleep, exercise, and spend time away from electronics. Talk with one another or others who are near and dear to you. Recognize your stress as it is - a feeling. Feelings aren't forever! There is always a way to solve the problem. Break it down into manageable chunks, let go of the unimportant, deal with the most important first, etc. Remind yourself and your children that you (and they) are not alone. Need help getting through this season? Don't be afraid to reach out! Here are several resources as well!
Have a wonderful rest of 2020!
