Second Grade Know & Go

Hour of Code turned into Two Hours of Code

Our AIM time today was mostly spent participating in a global program called Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics of computer programming. The goal is for tens of millions of students to try an Hour of Code during December 7-13, in celebration of computer science education week. I had intended to only spend one hour on it, but truth be told, when I told them they could go ahead and work on their writing project... or continue with their "hour" they all selected the coding program. I will have them copy their log in down so maybe instead of them playing video games they could do this sometimes (it has a lot of problem solving and feels like a video game). Rumor has it that we may have had an indoor snowball fight. I will not confirm or deny that.
