No School for Students on Wednesday
Grade K to Gaver Farm (Monday)
Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend! We just returned from a great Family Weekend at Salisbury University visiting our daughter, Riley. Having her away from home is still taking some adjustment, however, seeing your child grow into an independent, young adult is, I guess, all we can ask for as parents:)
We are wrapping up the first making period this week. Throughout the month of November, our teachers will hold parent/teacher conferences. If you have not signed up for a dater/time, please reach out to your child's teacher. We look forward to meeting with you!

Spirit Week 10/24/23-10/31/23
Throughout the month of October students have been participating in different activities to help spread awareness about making safe, healthy and kind choices. Additionally, next week is National Red Ribbon Week which is a time to show our support and commitment to being drug free and making safe & healthy choices with our bodies. We will be having a spirit week this week to culminate our month-long theme, and to celebrate & show our commitment to making these safe, healthy and kind decisions. We look forward to seeing all of the school spirit! The spirit week schedule can be found HERE.
Fall Festival/Halloween
Parade: 2:00 p.m. (back of school)
Parties: Teachers will lead students with a Fall Festival themed-party
Costumes: Students can wear costumes to school. Also, we are encouraging students who don't want to wear a costume to wear Wims gear or join in the activity for Spirit Week.
Snacks: PTA will provide snacks/goodies for all students. No additional snacks are needed.
Families: Families can join us outside for the parade. Unfortunately, we are not having families in the building during the parties.
Holiday Giving Project
The Holiday Giving Project has provided Thanksgiving and December holiday assistance to low-income households for over 30 years. A network of social workers, school counselors, and human service professionals refer families in need of assistance. Local non-profits, faith-based organizations, and public agencies serve Holiday Giving recipients, as donations are available.
If you and your family are in need and would like to be referred for possible assistance for the holiday season, please complete this referral form to provide the required information. This information will be sent directly to our School Counselor, Mrs. Ioli, who will then enter it into the Holiday Giving Database on your behalf. While a referral is not a guarantee of assistance, the Project helps as many families in need as donations allow. Please complete this form no later than TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact our School Counselor, Lauren Ioli at Lauren_A_Ioli@mcpsmd.org.

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe that next week will be the start of November. Last week, I set up our rather elaborate Halloween display in shorts and a t-shirt. With the cooler air moving in this week, it feels like fall. The holiday season is right around the corner and the PTA has a pretty packed lineup of activities. There are a lot of opportunities coming up to get involved, either through volunteering or donating items. Please read on for an overview of what’s to come and keep an eye on the Sunday message, emails from the school, and our Facebook page, as well as our website wwespta.org.
The RSVP form for Grandparents’ Day is now open & volunteers are needed to make this special event memorable for our grandparents & students! Read on for more information.
Don’t forget to save the date for our November PTA Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30 pm at Wims. A Zoom link will be shared before the meeting for those who cannot attend in person. Free childcare will be provided by Global.
Have a wonderful Wildcat week!

IT’S PIE TIME: MONDAY, NOV. 20
Help us show our Wims staff how thankful we are for all they do with a special treat for their Thanksgiving celebrations. We will be asking our community to donate a pie (or pies) for our staff! Pies can be of any variety and can be either homemade or store bought. Pies are due to the front office on Monday, November 20th and will be distributed to the staff throughout the day on Tuesday, November 21st. A signup to donate pies will be shared soon.
BOOK FAIR: Nov. 27
Fall Book Fair will officially kick-off on November 27th following the Thanksgiving break. We will open early for special shopping hours on Nov. 20th for Grandparents’ Day, from 8-9:30am. Wish lists will be coming home between Nov. 20-27th, depending on the preview schedule for your child’s classroom. Many volunteers are needed to make our Book Fair a success. Please sign up to help!. If you are interested in getting involved with the Book Fair at a higher level, consider the role of co-chair. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to be more involved with the school and PTA. If you have any questions or are interested in helping, please reach out to Danni Ibarra at vicepresident@wwespta.org.
