What Do I Do If...?

What do I do if someone in the house is being loud?

The best way to approach this situation is to ask the person to quiet down. We do live in a quiet house, so they should be pretty respectful of the quiet hours but if they are being loud you have the right to ask them to quiet down. If they don't or you aren't comfortable with asking, go see Lorna who will quiet them down. If Lorna isn't around or is sleeping, call either Front Desk (before midnight) or Security. Noise complaints are always dealt with by an RA and it is always confidential. The RA will not be told or tell anyone who the complaint was made by.

Get Involved!

Do you feel like getting involved in Residence? Good news! There are plenty of opportunities for everyone. The main way you can get involved is representing Atikokan on a committee. A committee usually meets once a week and plans events related to their committee. Some of the opportunities available are below.

Sports Committee

As a sports committee representative you will help Laura (our Sports Co-ordinator) plan and referee Res Sports. Res Sports will start up soon and are worth House Points so make sure you show your Animal pride and come out- even if it is just to cheer!

Events Committee

Events representatives coordinate many of the biggest events in Residence!

The Planeteers committee is responsible for eco-friendly initiatives in Residence. In the past, the Planeteers have come up with a great BYOM (Bring Your Own Mug) program, giving out free hot chocolate to anyone that stops by with a travel or reusable mug!

Charity Committee

Charity committee helps fundraise for local and large charitable organizations. One of the main events that they plan for Residence is Relay for Life!

Student Leadership Committee

The Student Leadership Committee is a fairly new addition to Residence. Students on the Leadership Committee will be helping to plan a Student Leadership Conference aimed at developing leadership skills and encouraging student involvement in Residence Life.

Vice-President Committee

The VP Committee Representative will work closely with the House President of the house. Within their committee they will help plan Residence Wide Events. This is a great opportunity for those thinking that Res Life might be in their future!
