Mrs. Danaher's Preschool Class - September 25, 2020
What Did We Do This Week?
This week we learned the letter F. We sang our F song and practiced writing the letter and making it out of play doh and other objects. Our math activities are completed first thing, and we practiced touch counting and sorting. We also sang SUBITIZE song and tried to guess small groups instantly. Thanks to all the parents for attending our Parent Participation Orientation this week with Ms. Benchekroun!
What's Next?
Next week we'll begin the letter E. Again we will use many sensory activities to learn our letter. We also received a big shipment of CHALK! So I hope to take our letter writing outside. We will also explore Eric Carle books in the classroom. Reading is so important!

9/18/20 What did we do this week?
This week we began letter of the week with the letter L. It is a very easy letter to write, using only one big line and one little line (just like Mat Man's leg and foot!). We watched the video, sang, and moved to the letter L song. The children also loved the Freeze Dance for song of the week. We built and drew the letter L, and we also highlighted the sound of the L in our daily activities.
What is next?
- Next week, we are adding more SeeSaw activities! Please download and have fun!
- We will begin the letter "F"
- In the classroom, I will be changing the materials to engage our in-school learners.
- At home, there will be new table time activities added to the lesson plan.
Important Dates
- September 18 there is no school for children. It is a teacher planning day.
- September 22 is the Parent Participation Orientation from Ms. Benchekroun. She sent out a packet of information last week.
- October 7 is our next Team Day schedule.
- October 12 is no school.
9/11/20 What did we do this week?
Mat Man came to our classroom and homes this week! We sang, built, and drew Mat Man. We used LINES and CURVES and talked about POSITION of the parts of Mat Man. This helps when we begin writing our letters! Take a look at the photos below to see how the children created him in class. We also danced to Tooty Ta, read many books, and went outside to enjoy the cooler, cloudy weather.
What's Next?
- Attendance for home learning! We started taking attendance this week. Thank you so much, parents, for helping us. Remember, the link will be on the lesson plan each week. Click on the link and check the box for attendance. Remote learners will check attendance every day. School Learners should check the attendance box on the days they are at HOME. When school learners are at school, TEACHERS will do the attendance. When they are home, PARENTS do the attendance. Please check in by 10:00 a.m. Thank you again for your cooperation and participation!
- This Friday, we sent home the "Preschool Packs" of fun materials for you to use at home! For home-learners, packet pick up was this Friday. If you are a home learner and missed the pick up, do not worry. We can have the pack in the office for you to pick up. Just let us know.
- We will start "Letter of the Week" next week! This letter will be "L" and we use a "Big Line" and a "Little Line" to make the letter. This goes back to Mat Man ... we used the big line for his legs and the little line for his feet! It's all connected and makes learning fun!
Important Dates:
- Friday, September 18 is a Remote Learning Day. There will be NO SCHOOL on that day for children who come to school. All children stay home and are expected to learn at home on that day. Teachers have training and planning.
