Spring Band Concert- Thursday, May 16
Our Spring Band Concert, featuring Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band, is on Thursday, May 16th at 7 P.M. in the junior high auditorium. We are excited to present an evening of popular music, including the music of Queen, The Avengers, Game of Thrones, and Disney, among others!
Concert Band students will report to Mrs. Keigher's room (same place they met before the December concert) and Symphonic Band students will report to the music room. All students must arrive by 6:15 pm.
Procedure for turning in uniforms:
All Concert and Symphonic Band students will be turning in their uniforms at the end of the night. They should plan on bringing a change of clothes to the concert.
Jazz Band Schedule for May
Morning jazz practices will continue as scheduled for the next two weeks. Saxophones on Mondays, Brass on Tuesdays, Rhythm Section on Wednesdays, and 6th Grade Jazz Band on Thursdays. Our last morning rehearsal of the school year will be the 6th grade practice on Thursday, May 16th. We may decide to perform for the school one morning like we have done in the past. If we do that, I will send out more details at a later date.
We only have ONE more Tuesday Evening jazz practice:
Tuesday, May 7th: Regular evening rehearsal. 6:00-7:15 Jazz Band, 7:15-8:30 Jazz Ensemble
There will be NO REHEARSAL on Tuesday, May 14th because the Spring Choir Concert is that evening. We will be moving rehearsal to the following MORNING, May 15th.
Memorial Day Performance- Monday, May 27th
The Lisle Junior High Band has been asked to perform at the Village of Lisle Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27 at the Lisle Village Hall. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band members are asked to perform for this short ceremony. This event will be a very minimal time commitment- approximately 9:45am until 11:00am. Since school is not in session that day, we cannot require this performance. We do, however, hope that every student who is in town and available can perform. We will be performing to honor the memory of our nation's veterans and we will be representing Lisle School District 202, Lisle Junior High School, and the band program. Participation by as many band students as possible is very important.
Students were given a blue information sheet a few weeks ago, and several students have already turned in their sheets. We need to know by Friday, May 3rd if your son or daughter is able to play. Please click here to let us know if your son or daughter can play on May 27th. I would appreciate an RSVP from everybody, even if your child is unable to perform.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

Scholarships and Summer Music Camp Options
As a reminder, scholarship applications were due this past Friday, April 26th. If your child is still interested in applying, they can still bring it in to us this week. The form is attached below. These scholarships can be used to fund private lessons or attendance at a summer music camp. Here are some options for local music camps that the kids can attend. If you are interested in having your child attend a summer music camp or take private lessons, make sure to have them fill out a scholarship form so we can give them $125 to put towards the cost.
