A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR..........
Principals,
I appreciate each of you for your flexibility and taking the time to meet with me on Wednesday afternoon for an important informational "called for" TJ feeder pattern principal meeting at Walnut Hill. I realize that there was much information received. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding the information for CNA/CIP, transition campus, staffing, Uplift applicant task or the new updated technology plan. I realize the information was overwhelming, but know that I am here as a support.
Continue conducting your extended observations and summative conferences with your teachers. The goal is to have all extended observations completed by May 26. The SLO accomplishments are due today, May 12. Ensure that you check them prior to leaving today if you have not already completed that task.
Mother's Day will be Sunday. I would like take this opportunity to wish all the Thomas Jefferson feeder pattern mothers a very happy Mother's day filled with all the love that you deserve. My hopes are that you are all surrounded by your beloved family on this special day.
Here is to another fantastic week of teaching and learning!

Substitue absence reporting
Lately, substitute budgets have been examined closely. It has been reported that some campuses have been inputting substitutes in blocks of 5-10 days per approved absences. Campus have significant reports of particular substitutes having over 100 individually approved absences for this year already accounted for and some approved up to June 1 in the system. This can seem a reflection of abuse of the absence system for your campus and the district which has been a point of discussion recently. Although there may be a reasonable justification for this on your campuses, it is imperative that you as the administrator, check on the substitute use and ensure that there is no abuse of the substitute system. Please be mindful that there should be a system in place for ensuring this abuse does not occur for any reason.
Please view your campus data below regarding substitutes.

PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING
For the month of May, our feeder will focus on RECOGNITION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT as our FIFTH principle.
RECOGNITION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
If we expect students to put forth and sustain high levels of effort, then we must motivate them by recognizing their accomplishments regularly. Clear recognition of authentic accomplishment is a hallmark of an effort-based school. This recognition can take the form of celebrations of work that meets standards or intermediate progress benchmarks In route to the standards. Progress points are articulated so that, regardless of entering performance level, every student can meet real accomplishment criteria often enough to be recognized frequently. Recognition of accomplishment can be tied to opportunities to participate in events that matter to students and their families.
PATRIOT KUDOS
Sonia Loskot, Burnet Elementary Principal
Congratulations to Mrs. Loskot on her End of Year Showcase Presentation Thursday night in Arlington for Principal Impact Collaborative program. Mrs. Loskot was one of 4 DISD principal's chosen to represent the district for PIC. Her presentation Project Theme was Aligning Engagement Strategies to Individual Student Needs and her Pilot Project involved Student input to Drive Engagement.
She did an outstanding job to represent the Thomas Jefferson feeder and Dallas ISD. We are so proud of Mrs. Loskot's accomplishments.

THOMAS JEFFERSON COLLEGIATE CORNER
Future Collegiate Academy students came out in full force to get a jump start on TSI. The Super Saturday TSI Camp was a complete success. With the help of iLead, and TJCA staff, 103 eighth graders participated in a series of introductory lessons to expose them to the TSI test at bridge camp. While it was challenging, many of the students felt that it was beneficial to their growth.
TJCA also welcomed its new club President and Vice President this week. Adrianna Carrion will take the lead with Jaqueline Gonzalez Roldan assisting.
About 25 collegiate students got a chance to experience an awesome field trip to see the Robo-tour. This interactive STEM trip gave students an opportunity to see how companies are making advances in science and engineering.
