HEADPHONES!
All students need a pair of headphones or earbuds to use at school. Please check with your child to ensure that (s)he has a working set of headphones at school. Inexpensive headphones can be purchased at many local grocery and department stores.
IXL can be accessed on a variety of different devices. It allows students to practice skills tailored to their needs in math and language arts. Students can log in with their school Google account: username@students.bcsc.k12.in.us
Pencil Donations Appreciated!
I am convinced that 5th graders must eat pencils for snack! Either that, or there's a horrible pencil eating monster that comes at night and eats all of our classroom pencils ;) If you are able to donate a package or two of pencils, please send them to class with your student. Thanks so much!

Fifth Grade Hygiene
Fifth grade is a great time for preteens to step up their hygiene game! In addition to brushing teeth twice a day, they may need to increase the number of showers they take and even start wearing deodorant regularly. Trust us - a fifth grade classroom is not a pleasant place to be after a hot, active recess! Please help us improve our afternoon learning environment by talking about personal hygiene with your student and helping them practice good habits ;)
Weekly Lifeskills Report
Each Friday, your student should bring home a Lifeskills report for the week. It documents how students are following Southside Expectations while they're at school. Please review this document with your student each weekend, sign the paper, and return it to school on Monday mornings.
Thanks for being our partners in nurturing respectful and responsible students!
