I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Our students came back from the much needed break ready to learn. We started the iReady mid-year diagnostic this week and we are seeing a lot of growth since the iReady assessment in September. iReady reports will be sent home once all students have completed the assessment.
This evening, our 4th and 5th grade chorus students will perform their winter concert for their families. They have been working so hard all semester preparing for this event. All students will be able to see their performance during the school day on Friday. Thanks to Ariel Robins and Findley Ballance for all of their time and dedication in preparing the chorus for this wonderful winter event!

Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to Albert Liu, our Findley Oaks Spelling Bee winner!!!! This is Albert's second time to win the spelling bee. He will be moving on to the Fulton County Schools spelling bee for the next round. Hannah Glazerman was our runner-up. All of our class winners did an outstanding job. Congratulations to them all!!

Georgia Milestones Coach Workbooks
We have extended the window to order coach books!
We are often asked, “What can we do at home to help prepare for Georgia Milestones?” If you are interested in supplemental materials, the Georgia Coach series is an excellent choice. This grade specific series provides students with the level of rigorous practice that is called for by the Georgia Standards of Excellence and will help prepare your child for the Georgia Milestones. Georgia Milestones will be given to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students; however, only 5th graders will be taking the Science portion. Reading/LA and Math books are available for grades 3-5 and Science books are available for grade 5. If you would like to purchase books for your student, please use the Online School Payment System. There is a minimum order that has to be reached, so in the event that we do not make the minimum purchase numbers, we will provide refunds. All orders are due by Friday, December 10th.

Calling All Artists!
Would you like to create a holiday tree ornament to be displayed at the Georgia Department of Education? Well, here’s your chance! Richard Woods, Georgia’s School Superintendent, is looking for students to create a holiday tree ornament to help ready his office for the Winter season. This is not a contest, so all ornaments sent will be displayed. Ornaments could be made from paper, clay, Model Magic, polymer clay, popsicle sticks, fabric, wood, etc., just remember, they are supposed to hang, so nothing too heavy! Your decoration could be winter-themed or holiday- themed. Make sure to attach a tag to your decoration that includes your name, your school’s name (Findley Oaks), and your art teacher’s name (Ms. Cessna). Please be aware that unfortunately, these ornaments will not be returned. Ms. Cessna will be collecting the ornaments until Thursday, December 9, at which time, she will box them and send them all as a group to the Department of Education. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cessna at cessnap@fultonschools.org.
COVID-19 Reporting
- As a reminder, if your child is sick, please have him or her stay home.
- All FCS staff and students are required to report a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, a pending COVID-19 test result (regardless of the reason for testing), and a direct contact with person who is COVID-19 positive.
- FCS student/parents must use the Parent Reporting Portal to make the COVID-19 report.
- Reporting staff and students must wait for further guidance from the FCS Health Services Team, Talent Department, or public health officials after submitting a report.
- The FCS COVID-19 Response Team will case investigate all reports in consultation with public health officials. Staff and students are required to cooperate with response team/public health department nurses and respond truthfully to all questions.
- The district will update positive COVID-19 cases once a week on the FCS website.
Change of Dismissal Information
Changing Dismissal Method -- If a student has a need to leave the school in a manner different from his/her normal routine, it will be necessary for the student to bring a “Change of Dismissal” form from the student’s parent/guardian to the classroom teacher. This should be sent prior to the date of need or immediately upon arrival to school the day of the change. Change of Dismissal forms are provided on the Findley Oaks website or can be requested from the classroom teacher at any time. Please remember bus changes will be made on an emergency basis only.
If there is a need to change your child’s dismissal during the school day, please send an email to 160-DismissalFOE@fultonschools.org. Emails to the teachers and phone calls will not be accepted. Change of dismissal will not be accepted after 2:00 pm.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is getting full. If your student is missing a coat or jacket you are welcome to come check lost and found in the school vestibule. Any items unclaimed by December 17, will be donated to charity.
