5 functions:

1. Allows the body to sweat. This helps our body cool down and maintain body temp.

2. Protects against sunburn. We produce melanin when we are in the sun, and our skin protects us from severe sun damage.

3. Our skin stores water, fat, and vitamin D!

4. Protects body from dehydration because it stores water.

5. Allows body to be free from disease because it protects us from the bacteria from the outside world. Skin acts as a barrier.
