School Highlights
HOUR OF CODE DAY
On Tuesday, December 5th, Souhegan students from Advanced Programming Classes visited Mont Vernon Village School to work with grades K-6 in the global event Hour of Code. Now in its 11th year, Hour of Code helps introduce students to programming and critical thinking while playing with some condensed coding games. We had such a blast working with all the grade levels and cannot wait for next year! Thanks to Mont Vernon Village School for hosting us!
SAFE SCHOOLS
On December 4th, Souhegan's Peer Mentorship group joined students from several high schools, educators and mental health professionals from across the state to take a deeper look into the mental health issues facing teens. After a viewing of the movie, Anxious Nation, we engaged in conversations, made a visual, and shared out about what is working and what can be improved in NH schools. We are committed to supporting students in our school, and will continue to work on this important topic.
SABER SPOTLIGHT
The next Saber Spotlight will be Monday, 12/11.

SENIOR PROJECT
With our next senior project checkpoint coming soon after vacation it is imperative that seniors are showing their mentor a draft before they leave for vacation. Senior's should be meeting with their mentor once a week in order to get their support they need. Although research is not due until March, Seniors should have between 4-6 pages of notes that come from 4-6 sources at this point in their project. Please check in with your senior to see where they are at with their work.

Get To Know SHS
Meet the wonderful and talented staff members of SHS!
Sarah Kunyosying
What is your role at Souhegan?
Library Media Specialist. I have also taught English here in the past!
How long have you been with Souhegan?
This is my 12th year here.
What do you love about your job?
I love that I get to be a helper to all students and staff and that I get to do different things every day! My job combines a little bit of everything, and that fits my personality well- I get bored easily! I love working with students individually to help them achieve their goals. I love building a compelling collection for our community and sharing the ways that reading can be both escapist and fun AND transportative and life-changing.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love most movement-based activities- but I particularly love dance, yoga, weight-lifting, skiing and pickleball! I am a yoga and Zumba teacher. I love spending time with my husband and daughter, ideally while travelling. I have been to 20 other countries and road-tripped across the U.S. twice. My favorite places I've visited are Thailand, Laos, Costa Rica, and New Zealand. I love to read, garden, write, and try new recipes.
If you were given one wish what would it be?
I wish that more people could embrace our human commonalities and celebrate differences without feeling threatened. I also wish sugar was good for me.
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
That’s so hard to pick one! I’ll pick one prevalent to my work here: “Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another’s skin, another’s voice, another’s soul.”- Joyce Carol Oates
Community Council
Community Council passed the Permanent Bus Pass Proposal, which seeks to allow parents to give students permission to write a one time note to allow them permission to ride multiple buses. This will go into effect next school year. Our next meeting is on Monday 12/11 from 5;00 to 7:00 in room 127.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
NHS is helping the Fire Department with their Toys for Tots Drive by collecting toys at the school. There is a collection box outside of student services that will be taking donations until December 14.
SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
The bracelets and purses will be for sale in front of Robin's office starting Monday, December 11, and running until the holiday break! Bracelets are for $7, and purses are for $15. Cash and Venmo are accepted. These bracelets and purses could be a great gift for this holiday season while also giving back to the people who made them!
