BMHS Whiz Quiz Shines
The BMHS High School Whiz Quiz team competed in our Fall invitational. Out of a field of 16 other FWISD high schools, Benbrook finished 4 in the standing winning 5 out of 6 matches and accumulating 1140 points across those 6 matches. This qualified us for the Tournament of 8 that was held at Arlington Heights on Thursday, November 17th. As a result of this tournament, Benbrook is ranked 3rd in the district and will take on Northside HS on December 8th at MG Ellis. If we win, we will move on to the final match on the same night.
Our team of five was lead by very strong showings from Captains Grace Donnell and Colin Jarchow, with strong support from the rest of the team Julianna Moses, AY Taiwo, Antonio Paquette, and Kyle Lewis. If you have any of these students please congratulate them on their success.

PARENT PREFERENCE ABOUT SURVEYS
Earlier this fall, stakeholder groups met to provide feedback on the new parental survey consent process. In FWISD, a survey is a formal method for collecting information on opinions, perceptions, feelings, thoughts, and ideas reported by an individual student. The District does surveys to help district leaders, school administrators, teachers, and support staff to:
- Improve the student’s overall school experience.
- Better understand students’ needs for additional support for them to be successful.
- In some instances, capturing students’ voices is a requirement to obtain specialized funding and to comply with state/federal law.
The District is defining opt-in and opt-out as the following:
- Opt-in: Students will not be included in the survey unless the box is checked to participate.
- Opt-out: Students will automatically participate unless the box is checked not to participate.
This process will allow parents to choose either to opt-in or opt-out of surveys identified for the 2022 - 2023 school year. The process will be managed through PowerSchool and is scheduled to begin Monday, December 5, 2022, and through January 6, 2023.
For the 2023-2024 school year, the District plans to include survey parental consent forms in the registration process.
Stay tuned! Soon, you will receive an email from Power School with helpful steps on how to complete the process.
Thank you for your continued partnership with Fort Worth ISD!
