Reptile Review

Principal's Update
Hi Reptile Families,
We can hardly believe that the school year is coming to a close! While these last few years have presented many extra challenges, there have also been some great successes this school year. Our staff and students have worked hard and persevered, and we are seeing great learning gains in our students. We have also enjoyed opening our campus to families again. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us at our Family Nights and events this year. We look forward to even more great memories next year!
We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and fun summer break! In between fun and relaxation, remember to keep your students engaged in learning. Research has shown that if students read at least 6 books throughout the summer, they can prevent the "Summer Slide" and learning loss. Students' MyPascoConnect online dashboard will remain available during the summer, and students can continue to work on Lexia (a reading program) and Zearn (a math program).
We have a lot of important end of year events happening, including all of end of the year fifth grade activities. We will miss our fifth graders, but we truly believe that "Once a Reptile, Always a Reptile." We look forward to staying in touch and celebrating accomplishments with our graduating fifth graders!
Thank you,
Colleen Wilkinson

P.E. News
Thank you for your support of the PE programs this year! We had 100 students in our Fun Run Club and the mile run on April 14 was a great way to end our season. Max Beman was our top runner and all of our winners for each grade level were announced and received medals! We definitely have some future cross-country stars here at NRES!
We are in the process of choosing our new patrols for next year. We would like to give a big thank you to this year’s patrols.
After post testing, we had over forty third, fourth, and fifth grade students qualify for Presidential Physical Fitness Awards. Students were held to high standards in the mile run, sit ups, push ups, shuttle run, and sit and reach for flexibility.
Last but not least, our Reptile Run program was a huge success, with over 220 students earning t-shirts. The shirts will be here later in May. Most students logged over 25 miles- WOW! Thank you for buying Field Day shirts and helping to support the Reptile Run program. Have a great summer and remember to be active for at least 60 minutes every day!!
Music News
All Grades are learning about Elements of Music as well as how to actively listen to and describe a piece of music. We will be assessing students during May on knowledge and skills learned throughout the school year.

Art News
What an amazing year it has been in the art room. Students learned many new concepts and used all kinds of tools and materials to create their artwork. Things such as plaster, clay, beads, color paper, stencils, tissue paper, and modeling clay were used to create a variety of sculptures, 2-D art and masks. To finalize the year, students are making an art book to review all the elements and principles of design learned through each quarter.
Thank you to all students who participated in the Pasco County Fair art show and the Judicial art display, they were both a great success.
Thank you for all your support and have a safe and wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Frain
