A Message From The Principal
Tuesday, October 1, 2019
Hello Kasson-Mantorville Families,
The KMMS school year is in full swing. It was great greeting and meeting students and families during our Orientation Night in August. The amount of energy in the building was contagious and led us into a great first month of school. I cannot believe how quickly the first month of school has passed us by. I had the opportunity to meet with each grade level during the first week of school to develop relationships and discuss our KMMS expectations.
At KMMS, we have four expectations. Each and every day we expect students to be safe, be respectful, be responsible and be engaged. I am so proud of how well our students have been able to demonstrate these expectations each day. We are extremely grateful for our students and their willingness to make themselves the best they can be. Thank you for your partnership and continued support. As their principal, I am extremely humbled to work with your child.
I am excited for what lies ahead. We have so many wonderful opportunities for our students at KMMS. In and out of the classroom, we seek to develop positive and meaningful relationships. I am looking forward to joining the 6th graders and their teachers on the Eagle Bluff field trip in early November. Relationships are the cornerstone of middle school and we are excited to offer these amazing opportunities for our students.
Thank you for a successful start of the school year.
Together in KoMet Pride,
Josh Larsen

Looking Back
- The 4th Annual FUFL (Fall Ultimate Frisbee League) Cup Tournament started on September 12th. Students love participating in this activity during advisory.
- Cherrydale Kick-Off began September 18th and goes through October 2nd. Students who sell one box will get a free ticket to a Glow Party at KMMS! Additional prizes can be earned for selling additional boxes. The fundraiser helps support a variety of things, including books for our school library, band equipment, playground equipment, special technology items in our classrooms, field trips and much more.
- Eric Samuel Timm came to the high school on September 23 and the middle school walked over to the PAC to watch his presentation about mental health. He used a mix of music, art/painting to share his story and engage our students. He had everyone dancing, laughing and thinking. Eric's message was that "It's okay to not be okay" and how important it is to talk to an adult when we are not okay. He hit home how important it is to take care of our mental health.
- Homecoming was September 23rd through September 27th. Students participated in the week's annual dress-up days, school parade and pep-fest fun. Mrs. Wix's Wildfire won the HoCo19 Door Decorating Contest.

- Friday, October 4th is the first Knowledge Bowl Meet for our 7th and 8th graders.
- Knowledge Bowl is a team-oriented, trivia formatted extra-curricular that challenges students to come up with correct answers in the four core areas of content: English, Social Studies, Science and Math. Top 20 Quote of the Week
We're learning how to make our school the best place it can be. One way to do this is to change our thinking from "me" to "we." If we are to help everyone around us feel successful, we need to include everyone.
Instead of thinking, "what's in my best interest?," think "What's in our best interest?"
