A Message From the Principal
As we continue our campaign to raise awareness about bullying prevention in our schools. Here at Silver Springs will be doing things to promote kindness. For example, each Monday during the month of October let's all wear blue to promote kindness!
This week's Choose Kindness Challenge is to make friends with someone you don't know. What are some things that you could do to make a new friend?
1. Introduce yourself to someone that is new to our school.
2. If you see someone sitting on the buddy bench, invite them to join your recess activity.
3. Sit next to someone new at lunch.
Let's see you we all can use Habit 8 by Finding our Voice and Inspiring Others to Find theirs. I look forward to hearing your stories about all the new friends that you have made.
Here's to a fun and kind October!

Please Invest In Your Child
The Silver Springs PTA looks forward to many activities planned this year and hopes to try some new ones. In order to fund all these activities and functions, we need all our families to give what they can! It makes a difference! This is our main source of fundraising for the entire year so we are asking for you to be as generous as you can. Just imagine what Silver Springs would be like without funding for PTA events and activities. The PTA works hard and volunteers a lot of time, so please donate to support the PTA and all we do. You do not need to be a PTA member to donate in the IIYC campaign. The PTA provides for all students. Your child benefits from the PTA. Look for the IIYC form in your child’s Monday Envelope.
Thanks for making a difference!

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit 5– Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
