Science Olympiad Information Session November 1 at 3:30
All those already registered or still considering Science Olympiad, join us on Nov. 1 for the 2nd Information Session. We will demonstrate two of the events to the kids. It's going to be fun and educational. Coaches show kids just what it's like to be a Science Olympiad. Tell your teachers you will be going to the Science Room after school starting at 3:30pm on Nov. 1 to participate in the Science Olympiad Information Session.
We would be grateful if you could register for the information session, but if you forget, no worries, just show up! If you want more information about the upcoming sessions and the entire Science Olympiad Program, click here.

Artist in Residence
Shannon Newby will be working with our students on a coral reef project that will be installed in the media center. It will be a wonderful addition to our school! Each 5th grade class will work on this project for 3 days in November!
We are asking parents to consider donating material for this project. Anyone can donate! We also need paper egg cartons and plastic bottle caps for this project so save those for us
and send them in! There is a box in the front office to collect supplies!
The Silent Partner Program
Mrs. Fillard, the school counselor, and Mrs. Lesniak, the school social worker, are asking for volunteers for a new program.
The Silent Partner Program has been successful at many other schools, and we would like to start this program at MCES. The purpose of the program is to help any MCES families who are experiencing a school-related need. This program may be used to secured funds for field trip money or other school items, or to gather donations of clothing, shoes, etc. By becoming a silent partner, you may help as much or as little as you wish. Mrs. Fillard will send an email to all "silent partners" when there is a need, and you can choose if you would like to donate at that time. If you would like to be part of the Silent Partner program, please email Mrs. Fillard with your name and the best email address for contact. Thank you!
Calling all Landscapers
MCES PTA is in need of a Grounds Committee Chair. This position helps MCES and Wake County beatify the school. Once or twice a year, we are slated for a refresh of mulch to be delivered and we need someone to help coordinate getting it in all the right spaces. If you love working outside and have an interest in volunteering at school with a LOW commitment, this might be for you.
Please contact Leslie Murr @ leslie.l.murr@gmail.com
Donations needed
- Mrs. Fillard has pressing needs for students. If you can help, please send individual snacks, plastic folders and marble composition notebooks to her office. Thank you!
- The Giving Garden is in need of some chicken wire, as well as Black Cow soil or cow manure or compost. If you have any you can spare, please drop off to the garden. Thank you!
