Principal's Weekly Update
RAISE Goal: to greet friends, staff, and parents on arrival
Te reo phrase of the week: Tino pai to mahi (good work)
Kia ora,
What a week we have had! The sun has been shining, the students have all turned up with smiles on their faces, and the variety of team building activities on display has been exceptional. Thank you for ensuring that your child/ren turned up on day 1 with all of the correct stationery and uniform that they needed. This really helps us to hit the ground running and make a great start to the school year.
School Leaders
Congratulations to Bethan Mulliss, Cahill Siebert-White, Molly Fletcher, and Jasper Mitchell for being selected as our school leaders for 2021! All of them displayed excellent leadership skills last year and we are looking forward to seeing them step up this year and carry out a multitude of leadership initiatives with their positive can-do attitudes.
Swimming Pool
I would like to extend a huge thanks to Megan and Jonty Horgan. Once again they have given their valuable time to maintaining and looking after the school pool. It has been incredibly well utilised by our community over the summer holidays, which has been neat to see. Thanks also to Emma and Leroy Hunt, as well as Anna Hauparoa for filling in when needed.
Teachers Only Day
Please mark Thursday 1st April down as a teachers only day (the Thursday before Good Friday). We have planned some exciting professional development activities for our teachers and appreciate your support with making alternative arrangements.
School Start Time
Some of our students are arriving very early in the morning (around 8 am). We are really happy to have them back at school, but apart from the students on the first bus, we expect all of our students to arrive after 8:30 am. This also coincides with when the office is open and when we have all of our teachers at school. Thank you for your support with this.
Please find some road safety messages from our local council further on in this newsletter. The start of the year is always a good time to go over tips and rules with your child/ren to keep them safe. I hope you have a wonderful Waitangi weekend. In the present covid-19 world climate, it definitely makes you feel pretty happy to be living in New Zealand.
