JM Staff Bulletin

Week of September 19th

Week Five

Dear Fantabulous JM Teachers and Staff,

I hope you've all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! We took Rosie to Point Isabel again yesterday and hung out with hundreds of doggies. :)

Ms. White will be out for the next two weeks due to a knee injury. We wish you a speedy recovery!

Ms. Sheila will be out on Monday and Tuesday of this week for some much needed rest and relaxation due to some back issues. Feel better soon!

IEP season has begun, and I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you all that Katherine will busy whenever we have an IEP meeting so that she can cover the general education teacher's classroom during the meeting. Our goal this year is to have the majority of the IEP meetings on Tuesdays since that is when all of our Special Education Team is on-site. This will not always be possible, but this is our goal. If you need Katherine to assist you with covering your classroom for assessments, please send her an email with times that work for you and she will check her calendar.

If you haven't yet done the Mandated Reporter Training, please do so before the end of this month! I did it this weekend and it was relatively painless.

I am really looking forward to our Book Club PLCs! Per last week's PD, our Book Club Share will be on September 28th. If you have any questions, please let me know.

For this week's grade level PLC, please go through slides 1-4 of the Google Slides presentation provided here. I've also shared this presentation with you in Drive. Let me know if you have any questions.

The Network 1 Principals will be visiting this Thursday, September 22nd. I have not yet met with my supervisor, so I am unclear on the details. I know one reason our site was selected is because my supervisors were impressed with our "culture plan", otherwise known as the Weekly Thematic Breakdown that was developed by members of the ILT at the June ILT Retreat. :) Any evidence of the Wolverine Way and the theme of the week would be great. If you are interested in having us visit your classroom, please email me as soon as possible. I will provide more details as I know them.

With appreciation,

Sara

Theme of the Week!

This week's theme is SELF MANAGEMENT. Please see the Weekly Thematic Breakdown for ideas for incorporating this theme into your week. NOTE: This is the week to discuss safe and unsafe touch. This can be done in a class meeting. I found a great resource online and added it to the breakdown: http://nspt4kids.com/therapy/no-dont-touch-me-there-how-to-teach-young-children-about-safe-touch/
