Principal's Thoughts

Dear Page Hilltop Families:

On Thursday, November 10th we were able to host our annual Veterans Day program live for the first time in several years. It was great to be able to bring all of our students, staff, family guests, community members and honored veterans to the high school auditorium for a memorable program.

As always, our program is comprised of PH students singing, sharing stories, and showing love & respect for our veterans. Our students stepped right up and produced a wonderful program.

Thanks to our emcees, Brielle M. & Victoriya G., as well as all our readers/presenters: Jonathan B., Caitlin O., Elizabeth M., Hunter S., Bella W., and Hunter F.

Thanks to Nathan K. and Aaliyah M. who lead the audience in the "Pledge".

Thanks to the following chorus members who performed the National Anthem: Daya A., Lacey F., Katelyn R., and Livia T.

Thanks to Mrs. Richter and our awesome chorus who performed a song called Thank You, Soldiers.

Thanks to USMC Cpl. Nick Nadeau, who was representing Clear Path for Veterans - New England, along with his service dog, Koda.

Thanks to the USMC Color Guard from the 25th Marine Regiment.

Thanks to Mrs. Reeves, Mrs. Williams, and the Page Hilltop Color Guard.

Thanks to Mr. Lutinski for coordinating video production for the entire event.

Thanks to Supt. Renda, Ass't Supt. Caliri, APD Chief Gill, APD Deputy Chief Bigelow & AFD Chief Johnston for taking time from their busy schedules to attend our program.

Thanks to Tom Houle for coordinating the Veterans bruncheon.

Thanks to Mrs. Cowley and our K-1-2 students who created some wonderful thank you cards for our veterans.

Thanks to the following students who spent several of their recess periods painting the welcome mural that highlighted our stage and welcomed our guests: Ava L., Lexi L., Grace G., Teaghan B., Rafaelle A.

Thanks to Bob Briggs and staff for helping with the stage set-up.

Most of all, thank you to all of the veterans, past & present, for who we hold this event each year. You are truly American Heroes!

Thanks, as always, for sharing your children with us!

They created campaign posters that included a reason why their peers should vote for their choice. They shared their posters and then we voted. We tallied and graphed the votes during our math lesson. The winner of our mini-election was Toy Day! The kids will bring in a school-appropriate toy on Wednesday.

Mrs. D'Ambrosio's Class: On Monday our class learned about elections and voting. Students had to create a campaign poster for their favorite cookie (chocolate chip or oreo). They then shared why their peers should vote for their cookie & then cast their vote in our voting booth. After calculating the winner, students enjoyed a yummy snack of each cookie.

ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

Students in our 4th-grade Environmental Club worked very hard to install a native wildlife garden here at Page Hilltop. The club will work next spring to add more flowers to the garden that was started last year. CLICK HERE TO SEE PICTURES OF THEIR WORK.

WHEN WILL WINTER ARRIVE?

As we continue to enjoy the unusually warm weather, we still need to accept the fact that winter will be arriving at some point. When do YOU think the first significant snowfall will arrive? All PH students are invited to submit their guesses and enter the "Annual Page Hilltop Snow Guessing Contest". All the children need to do is send a note to Mr. Deppe, including their NAME, TEACHER & DATE of first snowfall.

To be considered "significant snowfall", there must be at least 1" of snow on the ground.

All guesses must be submitted by November 23rd.

WHERE'S MR. TURKEY & WILL HE APPEAR AT PAGE HILLTOP FOR TURKEY TROT TIME?

Check out the Google Map attached, read the clues and see how many places you know that Mr. Turkey has been to these past weeks?!

THANK YOU ASEF!

We recently received a notification from Brenda Magno of ASEF, outlining the results of the fall grant cycle. ASEF stands for Ayer Shirley Education Foundation, an organization whose volunteers are dedicated to supporting all of our students and staff. This past month the ASEF board approved a record-breaking number of grant requests, with a total of $32,397 to be provided. These grant monies will be used to fund numerous educational learning experiences for our students.

Congratulations to the following PH personnel who submitted successful grant proposals: Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Crutchfield, Ms. Cubero, Mrs. Holmes, Mr. Lutinski, Ms. Messina & Mrs. Richter. We would also like to recognize one of our supportive parents, Mrs. Suedmeyer, who submitted a proposal that was co-partnered with Mr. Deppe. In addition, there was an anonymous donation, in the memory of former PH teacher Lili Johnson, which will cover the cost of another Page Hilltop learning activity.
