Staff Stuff
Happy Friday.
Thank you for all of your hard work this week. I know it was a long first week with the Tuesday start and I appreciate all of your efforts in helping to make this a smooth opening to the school year.
This year, in the Conquistador Corner, we'd like to include information from our Focus Groups to help communicate what's happening related to our goal areas. This week, take a look at the update from College & Career Readiness -- thank you Jesse and Heather! We also have some "Weekly Wellness" tips from our Wellness Coordinator, Rachael Senen.
Looking forward to a fantastic 2019-20 school year. Have a great weekend!

College & Career Readiness
Congrats on making it through the first week Arroyo Seco! The CCR Focus Group has great news! The Hart District's annual College & Career Fair is now open to junior high students! This event will take place at West Ranch High School on September 17th, from 5:00-7:30 pm and will offer workshops for junior high and high school families. Encourage your students to attend, or better yet, attend yourself and bring along your junior high/high school children! To register for the event families must visit www.pathwaytomyfuture.org, Hart District's College & Career Readiness web-page.
Say "Hello" to Xello, the Hart District's new College and Career Readiness platform! Xello has fully replaced Naviance at the junior high level, and will be adopted at the high schools over the next few years. This user-friendly program will serve as a one-stop shop for students to prepare them for junior high, high school and beyond. Any teacher that would like access to Xello can reach out to Heather Coo or Jesse Marshall who will create a personalized account for you. We'll be more than happy to walk you through the program!
Weekly Wellness
August's habit is Telling Empowering Stories and the disposition is Optimism.
"How you interpret and make sense of events is a juncture point where emotional resilience increases or depletes. You make the choice about what story to tell. When you tell empowering stories, your optimism may expand, and optimism is a key trait of resilient people" - Onward by Elena Aguilar
The way we think about an event or circumstance, not the event or circumstance itself-are sources of emotional and mental stress and fatigue. Your thoughts are the keys to unlocking resilience, and you have the power to choose how you think. Optimism can be learned and strengthened with practice. - Elena Aguilar
Challenge yourself every day this next week to think of (or even write down) three good things that happened throughout the day. Think about why each thing happened and how it felt. At the end of the week, think back, did focusing on the positive change your story each day? For the week? Did it expand your optimism?
