Always listen in class and be on time. Don't wait until the last minute to do things either. STUDY! Make good grades if you're going to play sports. And hang around good people! - Bailey McNeil
I would do my work and turn it in. Stay around smart people because they will lead you down a good path.- Jason Aldous
Focus more in math. Try and be as happy as you can be. - Marisa Kacmarzyk
Listen and pay attention. Make sure you can trust your friends. Listen to teachers no matter how dumb it sounds. - Lani Laster
Don’t procrastinate and respect the teachers. Be more outgoing because you may seem different to different people which is not good. Be more social and do work but have a happy medium. - Will Eiland.
Ask questions when you need to. Teachers want to help you understand. - Tiffany Tulo
Make good choices, don't be disrespectful to teachers. - Airelle Prim

My advice to the upcoming 8th graders would be to make sure to study hard and do all of your assignments, don't disrespect teachers. When you are absent be sure when you get back to ask what you missed so you won't be behind. - Taylor Jordan
Hang around with the right people, focus on schoolwork instead of sports, friends, etc. Don't get unbolted with all the drama, and if people try to drag you into it, ignore it. - Dorothy Brown
Turn in everything on time, and always do your homework its a grade. - Alexis Tews
Make sure you do your work because if you don't 8th grade will be a lot harder than it has to be. - Katie Galberry

The Right Place
A mother and a baby camel were lying around under a tree.
Then the baby camel asked, “Why do camels have humps?”
The mother camel considered this and said, “We are desert animals so we have the humps to store water so we can survive with very little water.”
The baby camel thought for a moment then said, “Ok…why are our legs long and our feet rounded?”
The mama replied, “They are meant for walking in the desert.”
The baby paused. After a beat, the camel asked, “Why are our eyelashes long? Sometimes they get in my way.”
The mama responded, “Those long thick eyelashes protect your eyes from the desert sand when it blows in the wind.
The baby thought and thought. Then he said, “I see. So the hump is to store water when we are in the desert, the legs are for walking through the desert and these eye lashes protect my eyes from the desert then why in the Zoo?”
The Lesson: Skills and abilities are only useful if you are in the right place at the right time. Otherwise they go to waste.

News Story:
Momo the dog and her owner and some of her owner’s friends were walking at Canada park. They ended up encountering a bear and were chased by it, until Momo the dog bravely jumped at the bear and shooed it off. The group made it to the parking lot and called 911 to report the bear. The supposed owner of the dog was actually just watching the dog for a friend who is getting situated at a new home. The owner was very worried about the situation but also proud of her courageous dog. She says her dog is “very protective and the fastest dog at the dog park.” Read more at http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/dog-hailed-hero-bear-encounter/.
