Celebrating a full week!

After a long Winter Break and a couple of "cold days" last week, we had our first full week of school since December. I have to tell you that the students and staff have done a fantastic job getting back into the swing of school. I have seen some awesome Science experiments, students reading and writing, math reasoning and explanations, gaining knowledge and understanding in Social Studies, reading strategies in RtI, broomball and badminton in gym class, wonderful music in band and choir, and exceptional art work. We also have nearly completed round two of MAP testing with the results available online by the first week of February.

6th grade Youth Night

Due to a scheduling conflict at the Intermediate School, the 6th grade Youth Night is now a family event at Sky Zone in Waukesha this Friday. Here is a link to the smore I sent to 6th grade parents on Tuesday evening.

8th grade Arrowhead orientation night

Our 8th graders learned about course selection from Arrowhead staff this week. There is an orientation night next week Wednesday, January 22nd beginning at 6:30. I hope to see you there!

6th graders pick the top fiction books of 2013

Mrs. Reuter's 6th grade RtI extension group put together their top picks for fiction books from 2013. They did a great job of explaining why each book they chose was their top pick. Here is a link to a padlet that highlights their picks.

Paul Bunyan (aka Mrs. Kircher)

This week, Mrs. Kircher dressed up as Paul Bunyan in order to peak the interest of our 4th graders while they are studying the lumber industry in Wisconsin. Some of the staff are reading a book entitled "Teach Like a Pirate" and one of the ideas is to find a hook to catch the students' attention. Dressing as Paul Bunyan certainly got the attention of the 4th grade students and staff.
