Dear Parents / Carers,
This week has been assessment week in school and I have been pleased to see how hard our children have worked and the progress they have made since returning to school. The information we are gaining is helping to give us a clear picture of where the children have retained learning and are making good progress and where there may be gaps in learning so that we can ensure the correct strategies for when the children move up to their new year groups in September. Overall I am pleased with how well the children are all doing after what has been a very unusual and difficult year.
I was very sad to see this week that the Friends of Kirk Fenton have not been able to recruit new members to key roles at their latest AGM. This group of parents and friends have always been amazing in their dedication and enthusiasm in raising additional funds for the school, especially for the 'nicer' parts of the curriculum that would otherwise not happen but many of them have been taking on the roles for several years now and have 'done their bit!'. It would be lovely to see some of our newer parents from the younger classes getting involved and I am sure that the current team would be supportive with the way it all works. If you are interested in helping, please let school know and we can point you in the right direction. It would be such a shame to lose this valuable resource and the events that they provide.
Finally, with the pausing of the latest Covid opening, we are having to review some of the events that we had been planning in the background. Sadly, we are unable to offer an intake day for Reception pupils this year and any whole school events such as sports day cannot go ahead. Thankfully, some of our Year 6 leavers' events are able to go ahead so hopefully we will be able to give them a good send off. Mrs Cameron will be in touch.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

The Friends of Kirk Fenton Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held this week online.
The current committee were in attendance, however due to their present and future
personal commitments, all existing members have decided that they each wish to step
down from the committee and no longer carry on within Friends of Kirk Fenton.
Unfortunately no-one else has stepped forward to carry on the baton for FOKF next year and
now an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be called in order to discuss the future of Friends.
If you do wish to join Friends, to enable it to continue
next year, please get in touch via the usual channels.
Warm Wishes from Friends of Kirk Fenton
