Ms. Linda's Letter

Dear Preschool Families,

This is our last regular newsletter for this school year. We will be doing a special "graduation" newsletter in May. Our year will be coming to an end in six short weeks. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for your support as we tried new ideas and continued to implement COVID policies to keep all of us safe. Your cooperation is why we were able to keep school closures to a minimum and we all remained healthy.

Many thanks to our amazing Staff who came to work each and every day with joy in their hearts and smiles/laughter behind their masks to teach and love your children. Many of our Staff have faced challenging health issues concerning children and spouses during the school year and yet their dedication and enthusiasm never waivered. Your children have been blessed by some truly incredible educators.

Please remember pictures are the Tuesday (April 19th) after Spring Break. Please have a safe and fun Spring Break and we look forward to seeing you in a week.

Much love,

Ms. Linda

Director - Unity Preschool

Kindess Day

We had an awesome Kindess Day last Thursday. Below are some pictures from our classes.

*Our Two's class practiced sharing kindness with each other. They made a special card for one of their friends and earned links on a chain throughout the week when they were kind to classmates.

*Our Three's classes made a snack basket and wrote kind messages for our Church Staff.

*Our Four's made Easter cards that we mailed to our Homebound church members and some special Unity friends.

We also surprised our summer birthday Staff with a birthday party. We so appreciate the parents who sent in our delicious breakfast items and gift cards for our Staff. We were also able to give each child a book about kindness from our Book Fairies. It was a special day teaching the children that no matter your age, God wants us to share kindness with others.

Color Day and Spirit Day

Our next Spirit Day is Thursday, April 28 - NAME DAY. We will be talking about how we all have a special name. Wear something monogrammed or with your name on it (no worries if don't have something - we will make a nametag). Your child will receive a special book from our Book Fairy campaign!

Our last Color Day is:

Thursday, May 12 - YELLOW DAY

We are so blessed to have Ms. Carolyn at Unity Preschool. Ms. Carolyn has been helping Unity Preschool for the past 11 years! She is our Thursday helper, Librarian, first call sub, and extra pair of hands. Ms. Carolyn is a Fort Mill native and an avid Clemson fan. She also works in the FLYERS after-school program at Fort Mill Elementary and as our Nursery Caregiver at Unity.

Favorite Foods: Ms. Carolyn enjoys ice cream (especially butter pecan at Baskin Robbins) and hamburgers.

Favorite Music: Ms. Carolyn loves "oldies" music from the 60s, 70s and 80s

Favorite Book: David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

Favorite Activities: Ms. Carolyn loves the mountains, cruising, and gardening

Volunteer Spotlight - Ms. Dannie

Ms. Dannie is one of our special VIPs (Volunteers Impacting Preschool). Ms. Dannie is a weekly classroom helper who assists with Center Time in our Fish class every Wednesday. Ms. Dannie has been a member of Unity for over 50 years. She is a retired school librarian and worked for 40 years in various school districts. She loves the Clemson Tigers, her dogs (Jimbo and Roxie) and volunteering at Unity Preschool!

Spring Pictures - Tuesday, April 19th

Kelley Smallman will be doing our pictures on TUESDAY, April 19th. We will take individual pictures, sibling pictures (Unity students), and class pictures. The pictures are taken outside in our pretty courtyard. http://www.kelleysmallman.com/#welcome We will let you know via SeeSaw if we have to postpone due to weather.

*NEW* Parent Picnic - May 3 and 4

With the nicer weather and some easing of COVID restrictions we thought it would be fun to host a Parent Picnic for our Three's and Four's classes. You (mom, dad, grandparents, friends) are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to preschool and we will enjoy lunch together in our Park. Our Three's are invited to join us on Wednesday, May 4 at 11:00 and our Four's are invited to join us on Thursday, May 5 at 11:00. If you are a working parent and cannot attend, simply let us know. You can send a lunch with your child and we will arrange a picnic partner for your child.

Graduation - May 18 (Four's Only)

We are thrilled to announce that we will be able to host Graduation for our Four's classes in our Sanctuary for immediate family. Graduation will be Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00. We will be sending more information to the Four's in the coming weeks.

Bike/Scooter Day - May 19 (Last Day of School)

We are excited to have a bike/scooter day our LAST DAY OF SCHOOL (May 19). You may bring your child's bike or scooter to school and a helmet. We will unload from your car and help you load at the end of the day. If your child does not have one, no worries. They will enjoy the cars and ride-ons that the Preschool has. For liability reasons a helmet is required if your child rides a bike or scooter, so please do not forget your child's helmet.

Miscellaneous Reminders

*Tuition Withdrawal: Tuition should be paid in full for most of our families because of your August payment. I will e-mail you the week after spring break if you can expect a May tuition withdrawal which will be Monday, May 2.
