Enrichment Tips of the Week...

In every professional development I have attended this year, presenters have said the same thing... "Use clips of movies/tv shows to get your student's attention!" A great example is using cartoons without words like the ones from Pixar to spark a conversation about inferring (see "For the Birds" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cers3vJcos)

Another great example of using media can be found on Ian Byrd's site. He talks about using movie trailers to introduce the concept of tone in poetry.http://www.byrdseed.com/movie-previews-and-poems-tones/

If you have the time, search http://movieclips.com/ for great clips of movies. The teaching possibilities are endless!
