Mindfulness: Healthy Habits of Mind
Becoming Aware and Worrying Less
"If every child is taught mindfulness, the world will be free of violence in one generation" - Dalai Lama
So how do we get from Stress to Stillness? What does it mean to be present in the moment? How do we become less anxious and more focused? The answers can be found by searching deep within ourselves. The process of Mindfulness is to be able to look inside and come back to the state of being in which you can be at peace with yourself. Research by the popular Child Mind Institute shows that Mindfulness is a powerful tool for kids to learn early on how to deal with everyday worries and stress as well as manage their emotions such as anger and depression. It's important to instill upon our next generation, the ability to claim and calm themselves, manage stress, and to realize that many things in life are only momentary.
By understanding and practicing fundamental principles of living, such as breathing techniques and other simple interactive exercises of uniting mind, body and soul, a child's self-esteem and inner being will bloom. Schools around the world are adopting mindfulness as a way to deal with issues that affect children - anxiety, ADD, ADHD, Austism, etc. See how brief engaging Mindfulness lessons are being taught to elementary students in this eye-opening video example filmed in a public school classroom. The kids' reactions are priceless.
Mindfulness is a great way for our children to learn to self-regulate, and become aware, appreciate, accept, and most importantly, honor and love themselves for who they are. IQuest is excited to introduce a new 1 day Workshop on Mindfulness on Dec. 27th, 9am-12pm and will offer a Mindfulness class next Spring starting on Jan. 10th. The workshop and classes will be taught by our nurturing and fun-loving instructor, Ms Kaleigh Carter. If you would like your child to experience the tranquility of an upcoming mindfulness session, please contact us.
