The Sky's the Limit!

Tuesday's Material Pick Up Drive Through has been CANCELED. Wednesday and Thursday's times will remain as scheduled.

Rain Rain Go Away!!!

Due to the current rain, and the forecast for more rain on Tuesday, we have decided to cancel the Material Pick up for Tuesday. Don't worry, everyone can still come on Wednesday or Thursday between 9:00-12:00 or 2:00-5:00.

Medication pick up can still happen on Tuesday 2:00- 5:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00-12:00.

I know what your thinking.... "Mr. Jarot is afraid of a little rain". No, No, that is not true. I actually don't mind the rain at all. I take my boys out for walks every time it rains. However, I didn't want your child's last memory of this school year to be driving through the bus lane, in the rain, getting a wet bag of their stuff from a teacher wearing a mask, hood, and umbrella.

Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny, fun, and we can't wait to say hello to all of our families. See you then,

Mr. Jarot

From the Anderson Specials Team (Music, PE, Art)

To our awesome Anderson Foxes,

Thank you for all your efforts in class throughout the year, and especially during this remote learning period. We know many of us would rather be at school, making joyful noise in music class, creating new masterpieces in art class, and staying active and healthy in PE. At the same time, it is great to see so many of you be resilient through the school closure. All the teachers here at Anderson are so proud of you, and we are here for you if you need any support while we are away from one another.

As we reach the last week of school, we wanted to let you know about how the schedule will look a little different. We will not be giving you any assignments next week that have to be turned in or that are part of your grade. Your first priority for the last week of school should be on completing any of the remote learning work that you have not completed up to this point. These lessons and assignments are really important for you to understand as you gear up for next school year. You can also participate in our Anderson Field Day--there are tons of fun activities here!

If you have missed out on specials lessons and would like to see what they were, take a look here:

In addition to your remote learning, we would love to have you join us for a video chat. We will be hosting a session on Tuesday, May 19th, from 12-12:30 pm. This is optional and will be a chance to connect before summer break, say hello to your specials teachers, sing along with a song story, and hear more about field day.

The Google Meet code is: AndersonSpecials303

You will have to log in with a D303 Google account using a student 800 number. We ask that you only join the Google Meet with one account/device per family, so that there is room for everyone wanting to join.

We miss you and hope you are doing well! We hope you stay safe and healthy this summer.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Hammons, Mrs. Beetstra, Mr. Backer, Ms. Varga, Mr. Smith, and Mrs. Spelic

Last Week of School for the 2021-2020 School Year

The last week of the school year is going to look a little different from the other weeks of remote learning. We hope that this plan provides a healthy balance between continuing engaged learning and providing meaningful closing activities for students. Our final week of school will be centered around 4 C's:

  • Conclude: it is the top priority for our students to finish up the learning and completion of assignments that have been given throughout the remote learning period. Your child's teacher(s) will notify you of any outstanding assignments that need to be completed. Students may use the last week of school to get support and submit these materials through May 22nd. In addition, your child's teacher may provide additional directions and activities for this week. Look for communication from your child’s classroom teacher regarding their plan for the last week of school.

  • Cultivate: if your child has completed their previous required learning, District 303 is offering a wide array of opportunities to learn and grow in areas and topics that inspire each individual student during the last week of school. To access these learning opportunities, click here. https://sites.google.com/d303.org/d303remotelearningforstudents/home

  • Collect: we know students have belongings that are still at school, so we have provided guidance on how families can collect their belongings before the school year is over. This information was shared via email this week and is shown below as well. If you have any questions about material pickup please reach out to your child's teacher or call the school office.

  • Connect: your child's teacher(s) will be providing an opportunity to connect through a live virtual session sometime during the last week of school. These meetings are a great way to interact with teachers and have a chance to say good-bye before the summer break. We hope you will encourage your student to attend.

You will receive specific communication from your child’s teacher regarding their plans for the last week of school, which will focus on the above-mentioned concepts. Thank you for your continued partnership, during both remote and in-person learning.

Take care, Have fun!

Mr. Jarot

Student Material Pick Up Information

The Anderson staff have been working on gathering your child’s personal items so they can be returned to you. These items include gym shoes, personal pencil cases, notebooks, folders, personal books, and all sorts of other items left behind. We have been working on a thoughtful plan that gets all of the items back to you while still keeping everyone safe through adherence to social distancing guidelines. Below are the details for picking up your child’s possessions.

  • All of your child's items will be collected in a large clear plastic bag labeled with their Name, Grade, and Class identified on a sticker label.
  • Families will be invited to "Drive Through" a material pick up lane at the back of the school. (Bus Loop)
  • Large tables will be organized and clearly labeled with grade and classroom teacher's names.
  • Student Material Bags will be arranged in alphabetical order on the tables.
  • When you drive through, we will have staff members available to find your student's bag and place them in your car.
  • Families will stay in their cars and all staff volunteers will be wearing gloves and masks.
  • There will be various labeled bins for you to drop off any school materials. (Library Books, Classroom Book...)
  • Students will keep their Chromebooks or iPad for the summer! :)

Dates/Times for Student Material Drive Through:

  • Wed 5/20 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM , and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Thu 5/21 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM , and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Dropping off classroom borrowed items (example: Library or classroom books)

  • Please put items in a ziplock bag.

  • Label the bag with the student name and classroom teacher or LRC if it is a library book. You might have multiple bags for multiple students.

  • Bins will be available and clearly labeled to drop off these items as you pull through.

Reminder: TECHNOLOGY (iPads or Chromebooks) WILL BE KEPT AT STUDENT HOMES THROUGH THE SUMMER.

Report Cards coming soon!

Report Cards will be available in HAC on Thursday, May 28th. Please note this is a change from what was previously communicated.

Third Trimester report cards will look slightly different this year because of Remote Learning.

  • Students will not receive markings under the “Learning Characteristics” section.
  • Competencies that are marked on the report card will reflect only those most essential standards that were covered during Remote Learning. This means there will be less competencies marked than in previous trimesters or years.
  • Teachers are doing the best that they can to accurately determine where your child is in relation to these competencies. Please remember that student work and assessments have looked differently during this trimester.

Talent Show? Next Year!

Dear Anderson families,

We deeply regret that due to the current circumstances, we are unable to have our annual school talent show. We considered virtual options, however, with many students having partner and group acts, we needed to consider their safety first. Thank you for all of your support. We look forward to our next Talen Show this coming school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Weber (5th) and Ms. Reyes (3rd)

Student Medication Pick Up

Parents whose children have medications/medical supplies still in the school health office will be able to retrieve these items from Anderson Elementary School at the dates/times listed below.

  • Tuesday, May 19 - 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Wednesday, May 20 - 9:00 AM -12:00 PM

Those with medications still in the health office will be contacted via email by Tuesday, May 12th. If you are unsure if your child has medication/supplies still in the building, please contact the Certified School Nurse, Anne McCann, at anne.mccann@d303.org to confirm.

Medication Retrieval Process:

Parents will pull car up in front of the front doors and call the health office at 331-228-3304 to let the nurse know they are in front of the building. To maintain social distance, please roll down a rear or passenger window, or open the car trunk. A nurse wearing a mask and gloves will then come out to place medications that are in a ziplock bag inside your vehicle. This process will work just like a grocery store pick up.

All Students Need to Register for 2020-2021!

As of today, we have 179 students registered. Thanks if you got it done. If you haven't yet, you still have time to get it done before Mr. Jarot register's his own children for their school. :) The gentle reminders will continue!

Returning Student Registration for 2020-2021 has moved to an online format that will open on April 27. In years past, parents completed the necessary paperwork in paper format. This year, all acknowledgments and authorizations are contained in a single electronic, online registration form that will be easily accessible from most electronic devices (computer, Chromebook, and Smartphones).

Beginning April 27, parents can sign into the Returning Student Online Registration form using their Home Access Center (HAC) credentials, select individual students, and complete their registration. The form will be located in the Parents/Community menu of the District website.

Registration fees for elementary and middle school will be available in Pushcoin beginning April 27, and billed to reflect the early bird discount of $10.00 if paid by May 22. High School fees will be available in June. For families who may qualify for a fee waiver, and are not directly certified by the state, a 2020-2021 district fee waiver application will be available on the District 303 website in July, accessible from the Parent/Community menu.
