IMPORTANT IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION FOR 5TH GRADERS
The Indiana State Dept. of Health requires all incoming 6th graders to receive additional shots prior to starting 6th grade. The required immunizations are Tdap and MCV4. The Hepatitis A series should be started if not already completed. Please contact your student’s doctor as soon as possible to schedule an appointment before school starts August 1, 2018. If your student is 11, and has already had these vaccinations, please send a copy of the updated shots to the Kitley Clinic. Our fax number is 317-803-5970. Even if your student will not be 11 before the beginning of 6th grade, they are still required to have the immunizations by August 1, 2018.
Marion County Health Department has immunization appointments and walk in clinic hours. Their cost is $20 regardless of the number of immunizations needed. The closest Health Department office is 505 E. National Ave. and their phone number is 317-221-5700.
If you have any questions please contact us at 317-803-5977.

Reminders from the Clinic
Any medication for students to use at school must be brought in to the clinic by the parent or guardian. Please do not send medication in with students. We need medications in their original boxes with prescription labels.
As we are seeing an increase in illness and it's flu season, please remember that a student needs to be fever free (99.9 degrees or lower) for 24 hours before returning to school after an illness. A student who has been home with vomiting or diarrhea has to go 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school.
If your child was sent home with clothes from the clinic please wash and return them to the clinic. We are excepting donations for pants size 5-12 for both girls and boys. Thanks.

Transportation
We will be posting on Facebook whenever a bus is running 10 minutes or more behind schedule. Sometimes we run behind due to traffic or mechanical problems. Like us on Facebook!
As the weather gets colder, students will be tempted to remain in the house or car longer. Please make sure they are standing at the stop when the bus pulls up. It is scary for bus drivers to watch a student run to their stop to catch the bus. This is especially dangerous with ice or snow on the roads. Thank you for your cooperation.
We have put five new general education and two new special education buses on the road. These buses have seatbelts in them. Please encourage your children to wear these.
Thank you for expecting your children to remain seated, stay out of the aisles, and not eat on the buses. These are all things that put your child in danger.
We are hiring bus drivers. We will train you! And pay you for the training! Apply on line through our school website.
Residency & Educational Rights. . .
Residency & Educational Rights. . .
If your family is in an extreme living situation such as: living in a motel, car, campsite, shelter, temporary housing, combined housing, public places, etc. you could qualify for a McKinney –Vento (homeless) Act.
Please contact your school counselor to discuss ways we can possibly help support your situation. Students who are in homeless living situations have the following rights:
1. Immediate enrollment in the school they last attended or the school in whose attendance area they are currently staying even if they do not have all of the documents normally required at the time of enrollment;
2. Access to free meals and textbooks, Title I and other educational programs, and other comparable services including transportation;
3. To attend the same classes and activities that students in other living situations also participate in without fear of being separated or treated differently due to their housing situations.
Any question about these rights can be directed to your school’s Counselor.
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have received and understand the above rights.
