CLOZE it!

Cloze passages can help to build and reinforce a number of skills exhibited by fluent readers:

They focus on contextual cueing systems, strengthening the reader's ability to anticipate the text that makes the most sense. They expand the reader's repertoire of thinking strategies: children interact with text -- searching, scanning, and thinking -- to make meaning from print.

They can increase a reader's confidence. As readers experience success with cloze, they realize they can predict the words that come next. Here are a few links
