From Andy True...
In the coming days, maintenance will be delivering you a supply of "passports" which have been created for KCS students in grades K-8. These were made through a partnership between KCS, the City of Kingsport, and a variety of other local stakeholders. Basically, it is booklet that highlights various significant locations across Kingsport, encouraging students to locate each landmark through a scavenger-hunt process. There are prizes and giveaways for finding certain things.
The idea is to get these in kids' hands prior to Fall Break, so there is an option for an activity over the break. I'm working with a variety of people to coordinate a roll-out, so if at all possible, please hang on to these until I get you a distribution date range. The hope is for a joint marketing effort across a variety of platforms to communicate that these will be coming hope with students.
I'll get you more info shortly, but wanted you to be aware of what was in the box, when it arrived.
-Andy

Coffee Cart-Feel Good Friday
Feel Good Friday just keeps getting better! Stephen Baker had the awesome idea to start up a coffee cart for the Warrior Academy kiddos and the FA-3 kiddos to run together on Friday mornings. The cost will be $1.00 per cup, and we have creamers and sweeteners as well!
The funds will just replenish the cart from week to week, but the personal interaction and functional skills the kids are going to learn from this will be invaluable! I am looking forward to watching them grow throughout the year and build relationships with you all through this venture!
I have included the Google Sheet that we will use each week to fill orders. There is a cell for your name, classroom number for 1st period assignments, type of drink, and if you need a disposable cup, or if you'll have your own mug for us to make it in!
Thank you all in advance for your support of this fun idea, and to Baker for getting it all together. I love our big Warrior Tribe!
Thanks again!
Baker and Megan

Warrior ROCKstar!
When I need a crazy classroom idea, I call Chris Carr.
When I need a partner in crime to climb on the roof and paint historical figures on a brick wall, I call Chris Carr.
When I want to purchase some Nerf guns for a totally legitimate, pedagogical reason, I call Chris Carr.
When I have the urge to stage a perfectly innocent drive-by on another teacher using said Nerf guns, I call Chris Carr.
When I need a co-chaperone to take a group of student journalists to Nashville, I call Chris Carr.
When I need someone to laugh at me after slip on a patch of ice and fall on my keister, Chris Carr is my first call.
So, here’s to Chris Carr, who (along with Rebekah Tipton) is the best partner in crime I could ask for in this crazy endeavor of teaching World History to middle school students.
