3B and 3D News

April 7th- April 11th

WOW: dimensions

This week in math we will continue working on measurement concepts. We will look at how you measure liquid and mass. How is that different from measuring solid objects? Learners will be rotating through various stations to work on these specific skills.

Homework: will be an Edmodo quiz this week. The quiz will be posted Monday at 3:30 pm and it will need to be completed Friday by 7:00 am.

This week in science we will continue to talk about matter. Now that we know what matter is (anything that takes up space), how is it changed? What are the different states of matter? Learners will be doing various activities to further their understanding of matter and how it pertains to our life.

English Language Arts

For reading, learners will continue with their book clubs! Have you asked your kiddo about these? Each child chose a book and was put into groups with other kids who chose that book. They read a chapter individually and then write a summary, thoughts and questions, and vocabulary words from that chapter. After that, they meet as a group and discuss the chapter. When the entire book is complete, learners will have a menu of activities to complete to show an understanding of the book.

This week, we will also practice using a table of contents, glossary, and an index.

Has your learner come home talking about The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane? If not, ask them about it! They have LOVED this read aloud!

Social Studies

During social studies time, learners will be comparing communities and education in the past and the present. Learners will complete a double bubble map of what schools and education used to be like compared to today.
